Best Online Sportsbook

I've been on Bodog for more than a couple of years, mostly b/c I had won some Tourney dollars and thought it was O.K. I'm considering moving on to another sportsbook. Am I already in the right place or who is the best in this field?

I actually haven't given them action in awhile but I remember big split moneylines and high hold percentage futures... maybe changed. I'm sure it's fine for football.

Re: Best Online Sportsbook

Bodog is still good but it has lines that favor longshots more often than not. A- rated by SBR

5Dimes is very good A+ rated (one of 6 on SportsBookReview Recommended List)

Disclaimer: I am affilaite for both but that is because I think they are both good

Good selection of early markets = great

nice site
They bet three way markets to 108%+ pre-match and 112%+ live
They bet two ball markets (nfl, nba) to 105.5%%+ pre-match and live
6/10

I would recommend bet365 and Stanjames for profit making.

Not sure why you would recommend to someone a C graded Sportsbook (bet365) on SBR that has many posted player disputes. No one should bet at any sportsbook not rated A or even B at the worse.

At least Stanjames is B rated.

Just to many quality A sites that you do not have to needlessly worry about the book not paying you once you win your money.

For those not aware, SBR ranks/reviews books, but also is a player advocate for anyone claiming to be cheated by a book and will try to intervene on players behalf.

Re: Best Online Sportsbook

Strange recommondations here. Basically all the big UK and European bookmakers are crap (Ladbrokes, StanJames, bwin etc.). Their profit margins are really high making it tough for you to find good odds. Plus they limit you extremely fast. Take a look at this poll from SecretBettingClub:

#1 book anyone should have is Pinnacle. Then SBOBET. If you're betting soccer exclusively then SBO should actually be #1.
Now I still have accounts with basically every reputable sportsbook out there (even the crap ones) to ensure I'll always have access to the best odds but if you don't want to have hundreds of account then go with the two I've just mentioned (+ Betfair).

My most used books are (betting 90% football/soccer): SBOBET, Pinnacle, Betfair, 12bet, 188bet. Then there's a huge gap. As I always pick the best available odds from ~100 books via Oddsportal.com this should tell you a lot about the odds quality of the books.

Re: Best Online Sportsbook

Bodog is terrible. The "great underdog lines" you may see on public line feeds are only available to very new customers or total squares. Here's something I posted about Bodog's sportsbook to another 2+2 forum a couple days ago:

Aside from all of the other garbage with their sportsbook, they deal dual lines. You can ask the Bodog rep 10 stupid questions about payouts, what casino games they offer, etc and she'll reply promptly but when you ask if they deal dual lines, you'll be met with complete silence. Dealing dual lines is illegal in Nevada and presumably many other licensed jurisdictions, but Bodog does it with impunity.

For the non-sports bettors, dual lines means they change the line on you after you log in unless you're a complete square. Say the Lakers are on the road against a bad team and the line is Lakers -6 everywhere. Bodog will show a line of Lakers -6.5 bad team +6.5 on their public line feed and when you aren't logged in (or if you delete the cookie that remembers your preferences.) Anyone with a minimal clue that's isn't new to Bodog, after they log in, will see the line change to Lakers -6 bad team +6. New Bodog users will be given that -6.5/+6.5, but if you bet bad team +6.5 a couple times they will switch you to the dual line set, so the only people who get the -6.5/+6.5 are the squares who just want to bet the Lakers at any price and don't mind playing -6.5 when just about every other book in the world would give them -6.

They also pull some other shady crap, one other example is that they are lazy about adjusting their prop lines. They put most reasonably skilled bettors on a delay of over a minute and change the line a substantial portion of the time when you try to bet a prop. Essentially they use their customers to set their lines for them without actually letting the customer bet. It's the equivalent of showing up at a Vegas casino, asking for a line, being told the line is 100 to win 120, saying "I'll take $300 to win $360" and the clerk saying "I'm sorry sir, the line is now 300 to win 300, would you like those odds?" Then you try to make 3 more bets and the same thing happens. It's possible that could happen once in a while due to coincidence (where someone bet the same side as you in the short period of time between the clerk reading you the line and you saying which side you wanted) but when it happens 4 times in a row it's obviously not a coincidence.

As I said, these policies are completely illegal in Nevada. I'm sure Vegas sportsbooks get away with this crap every once in a while but not as consistently as Bodog, who do it all the time. Think of it this way--if Bodog's sportsbook was on the up and up, why do they refuse to acknowledge that they deal dual lines and put many people on long prop delays?

I don't know anything about their casino but I considering all of the shady crap they do in their sportsbook, I wouldn't touch their poker site or their casino site with a 10 foot pole.

Re: Best Online Sportsbook

To answer your original question, it really depends on what you want to bet. 5Dimes was suggested already and they're fine if you're only betting $100-ish a game, but larger bettors will find themselves limited if they're winning bettors and possibly cursed out by Tony, their manager--5Dimes does pay but they don't like winners.

In addition to my post above here's an example why this is bollocks:

Cambridge v Eastbourne - Conference

Bookmaker: Home - Draw - Away - Overround
Stan James: 1.73 - 3.50 - 4.33 - 109.47%
Bet365: 1.80 - 3.50 - 4.50 - 106.35%
Pinnacle: 1.88 - 3.67 - 4.46 - 102.86%

Or take a look at the Draw No Bet (AH 0) from yesterday's Villa v Everton match:

Stan James: 1.91 - 1.91
Pinnacle: 1.95 - 1.99
SBOBET: 1.96 - 1.99
