I currently live in the UK. Without pinnacle, without SBO, and with an additional 0.15% commission on matchbook. I wonder if there is a better place to live for sports betting?

Things I want:
1) Online poker and sports betting (including exchange betting) is legal and tax free. Access to pinnacle, SBO, matchbook, betfair, etc.
2) Good level of Infrastructure (frequent flights to uk, fast reliable internet connection)
3) Low crime rate, meaningful laws and institutions without too much corruption. Also good access to lawyers, doctors and accountants if things go wrong.
4) Uses a real currency, that can be exchanged easily and quickly without too much transaction cost.
5) English speaking. But not USA, UK, Australia, Hongkong, or Singapore.

Possible countries I'm thinking of:
Ireland? Canada? New Zealand? Malta? Taiwan?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Can't you just use an agent and live wherever you want ?

No I can't just use an agent. I need to have everything in my name, much less hassle that way.

I wonder if someone living in Canada or New Zealand could confirm for me whether or not it's legal and tax free to gamble on pinnacle/sbo/matchbook etc from there? Also what's the banking and currency services like in these countries?

Thank you for the link, but it doesn't mention New Zealand and the article on Canada is too generalized and vague.

Are there any sports gamblers living in Canada here? How much can you bet every week? Is the tax strictly enforced? Maybe pm me if you don't want to shout it out.

I can deposit and withdraw from my bank account within 24hr and have never paid taxes on gambling income. I don't claim professional gambler tho. Not sure what that's like.

"Canadians must only pay taxes on gambling winnings, including online sports betting if they file as a professional gambler. Those who do no file as a professional are classified as hobbyists and are not held liable for taxes on gambling winnings."

thanks google!

All of the above is correct for NZ.

The opposition to the current government has a policy of banning overseas gambling to direct more business to the government owned national bookie (which offers horrendously bad odds). But they just lost the election with a historically bad result for them.

the only problem with gambling in canada is the currency exchange becomes costly.

I think it depends on what sports you bet. I.E., you wouldn't want to go to Las Vegas for cricket odds, or even Premier League. What is your primary focus?

I long for in-running wagering on horses on Betfair, which is not available in the US.

I have a similar problem as you;

I'm considering moving to the UK seeing that betting winnings are tax free and there's way more sportsbooks in the UK than in my country but I'm not sure if it's completely legal to bet on pinnacle living in the UK.

Why not just use Sportmarket or Asianodds or some other broker that gives you access to the big Asian bookies?
