Re: Beating a GOOD tennis player, with a handicap

UPDATE:

So basically the 4.0 ranked played effectively lost to OP!! they stopped playing but for all the sh*t i talked here i def have to eat those words.

to sum:
- 4.0 player was really nowhere remotely close to that. my bro is like a 4.0-4.5 and that wouldn't have even been a match.

- tiny asian guy had 0 backhand. OP just hit the ball to his backhand. failtrain.

- tiny asian guy had 0 second serve (or even first serve for that matter) allowing OP to easily execute the 'hit to the backhand' strategy.

- tiny asian guy in the worst shape ever. OP in good shape.

- i got very lucky OP didn't want to finish this basically on my behalf. tiny asian guy either forgot the rating system or has some insane idea of what a 4.0ish plays like b/c he ain't close to that. i made HUGE mistake of taking the word of tiny asian guy vs. watching him play before betting.

- had the tiny asian guy been an actual 4.0, everything said about the match and how badly OP would have lost would have been true. that said, it was embarrassing.

Youtube please? At least put a few points up there, I used to play 4.0-4.5 and could at least guess what the "4.0" should really be.

I'm pretty sure I'd get beat by my friend who is a tennis pro at a resort if I forced him to keep a pivot foot the entire match (switching sides for serve). And not just beat, like humiliation.

Quote:
He'll destroy you. My friend is question is smaller than that, but better at tennis. He'll probably overpower you with his play which will be even more lol.

I think the exact words my friend use were: "If I wanted to hit you with the ball when I serve, I could choose when and where."

Probably somewhat of an overstatement, but this is lolz. GG propbets
Dude, no one cares about your friend. The thread is over but thought I'd talk some smack to you as you seem to like the controversy. When it is time for me to wither away and die, I think I'll go through all your 30k posts just to push me over the edge.

I know. Using a player of comparative skill is terrible. Instead you have someone entirely misrepresent the ability level of the opposing player. Std asymmetric information.

players declined. no video. sowwy. I can tell you with 100% certainty though tiny asian guy wasn't anywhere close to 4.0.

i mentioned my reference point (brother 4-4.5 and his friend 7) earlier and if tiny asian guy played my bro it would be 6-0/6-0/6-0. maybe he'd lose a game or two in a 3 set match.

im thinking tiny asian guy is like a 1 or a 2 LOL. when my brother plays his friend (#1 skidmore varsity undefeated all 4 yrs etc.) he wins 1-3 games/set. my bro has never come 'close' to beating his friend in a legitimate 2-3 set match.

and the distance between my brother and tiny asian guy is like 2-3 times as bad as the difference between the 7 and my brother.

tiny asian guy would barely win a point lol.

Re: Beating a GOOD tennis player, with a handicap

this thread came up in a separate discussion between OP and myself recently. i came back to it and after having read the ridiculous amt of ****talking that happened here, my update did not do this justice.

OP is a legit athlete and huntingx is just embarrassing. but even more embarrassing was my not having sufficient faith in OP given his read on huntingx's athletic ability. and ofc the amt of ****talking here by me and others did not help the situation.

this proper update is a bit late...but better late than never. the amt of word eating/foot in mouth in the initial update was def not sufficient after rereading the thread in its entirety.

Thanks again for the reminder, made my Friday.

What was the score at the time they stopped? Sounds like they just agreed to settle in the middle of it?

Also, wonder if opinions of the bet have changed with the new Cal Tech athletics scandal:
