Re: April - June LC Thread: Good old country hardball

I'll post a couple of picks per night that have an expected ROI of greater than -2.2% in the 2012 MLB Thread along with some narrative fallacies if it will help people get over the loss of BrianL.

Re: April - June LC Thread: Good old country hardball

I wasn't going to say anything about this PM but then I noticed that my picks in the MLB thread, one of which had already won and two of which are currently full arbs vs Pinny, had been deleted so **** it.

Please also consider that I really don't get a thrill out of having to do any actual modding in that forum and would appreciate if you could participate without trying to push the envelope in there so I don't actually have to think about things or attempt to make decisions. Thanks.
It's amusing how it is fine for every Tom, Dick, and Harry who registers here to post their -EV garbage in the pick threads but a regular poster with a potentially winning model decides to post, sets a benchmark for said picks, and it somehow constitutes trolling.

You are worthless, Bob.

Iowa - You could explain that to me normally...like an adult without being weird about it.

How am I supposed to know that there is an actual model behind your picks and they are legit when YOU are the one that says, "I'll post a couple of picks per night that have an expected ROI of greater than -2.2% in the 2012 MLB Thread along with some narrative fallacies if it will help people get over the loss of BrianL."

and then add silly and trolly joke write-up additions to each pick?

I posted the PM because I think the people who choose to keep their records here have a right to know that their posts could be deleted at any moment by an inept, overbearing mod.

YOU wouldn't know because you're clueless when it comes to sports wagering, but the rest of the forum would have noticed within 1-2 weeks that I was crushing market if that in fact wound up being the case.

It's almost as though you aren't qualified to moderate a sports betting forum.

Re: April - June LC Thread: Good old country hardball

As I said, if you want to discuss this normally and tactfully then feel free to do so. Via PM would be fine or, I guess, in the thread since that seems to be your preference.

All you had to do was explain that your posts were not trolls and were indeed legitimate picks. Tell the mod who doesn't know as much about sports-betting exactly what you are telling me now...without the unnecessary insults.

And explain that what clearly seemed to be a follow-through from your previous post in which you DIRECTLY STATED you were going to troll the thread was actually not what you were doing.

I would have been happy to un-delete your posts and your picks with even the remotest amount of non-freakout behavior.

As it stands, the way you are going about this isn't helpful for anyone.

Re: April - June LC Thread: Good old country hardball

Who cares if they are troll picks is the entire point of his argument.

What makes it any different than the average guy who comes on here and posts his picks? Do you have any idea how many posters (thousands) have come and gone posting their picks? What ever happened to our very precious Assani in the NBA thread?

He is following the rules by posting it in the MLB thread, unlike other dopes like ZScore or the hundreds of others who have decided to make their own tracking thread.

Who gives a crap about writeups anyway? Are people not aware you can cherry pick a bunch of stats supporting the side you are on regardless of what side it is?

Why is it when anyone questions you, you automatically accuse them of freaking out or flying off the handle, or displaying ignorant behavior?

Re: April - June LC Thread: Good old country hardball

He can question me fine and I have no problem with that.

Explaining your case as you have done seems fine to me too.

The difference isn't hard to see. If I make a mistake, and I will make many, dealing with it without flying off the handle is still required.

I think you (and others) can see how his post in the thread directly saying he was going to troll, and then posting picks with joke/trolly write-ups, would have provided the conclusion I came to.

He could have simply PM'ed back saying, "hey, I understand why you got confused there. But those picks I am providing really are legitimate and I am adding them for the good of the forum. Yeah, the write-up stuff is obviously a joke so if that's really a problem then I apologize. Thought it was understood that was a joke. But the picks themselves aren't. And, to be honest, I don't think it's a big deal to post joke write-ups since almost all the sincere attempts to make write-ups are total jokes anyway."

This isn't hard. Mods get tactful PM's like that all the time.

Instead of saying I am worthless and clueless...perhaps try the tactic of NOT saying I am worthless and clueless.

Re: April - June LC Thread: Good old country hardball

So you delete the guy's posts(that clearly didn't violate anything) and you expect him to treat you with the same respect you didn't treat him with?

Why didn't you approach him first before you clearly accused him of something he wasn't doing?

Just un-delete the posts, because they are legitimate and leave everyone the **** alone.

I was directly responding to this (and his apparent follow-through) and did so privately

I didn't say he was worthless or clueless or anything of the sort. I said, "hey, I can't let you post false picks and troll" (like he just said he was going to do).

So reply to me, explain the reality of the situation, normally, then I undelete them, nobody needs to be involved in any drama or any insults thrown.

Everyone moves on.

What are "false picks"? Were the lines posted unavailable?
