I bet Alan Boston's twitter picks during the 2013-2014 season... did not end very well for me. I ended up down ~20 units during the time frame I tracked and still have records of (12/14/2013-3/28/2014). I varied my bet sizes a bit based on when he'd say "BIG BET" or something like that (probably bet 0.75-2 units on every game, with the large majority being 1 unit plays). I tried to bet all of his picks but would pass if the line moved significantly against me and I'm sure I missed a number of picks on busy days, weekends, vacation, etc as well, but I'm comfortable that this was pretty representative of his plays/season. I had enough after that season so can't comment on any other seasons. He did not seem very good (or seem to care) about getting good #s/prices on his picks (and would complain about the "Bastards" that bet the openers)... should've been a red flag. He also complained a lot about horrible luck, refs, etc which wasn't a good sign either. He is definitely an entertaining character and I've enjoyed his insane ramblings on various podcasts and twitter. Just posting this as a warning before anyone blindly follows him. You may get what you deserve if you try to follow his picks, as I did back then. Still interested to see how he does, hope he does ok as his twitter feed can get pretty dark at times.

Good documentary. thanks for posting.

That Eog guy came off badly/sleezy but wtf at suicide pact. Alan came off pretty unhappy/angry/ sad during the doc, them showing him hit a huge rail at the end was pretty unfortunate all around. Only guys that seemed cool was dink and banker.

Dink and Banker ftw.

Power rankings on loose leaf definately done while hitting dingers. Epic anyway you look at it

idiot. I can not stand either one obviously.

I know there might be some value to actually watching the games (I never have and have won a lot) but unless NCAA hoops is unimaginably soft, to win you need to know whether a team is 3 points better than the other instead of 5. You'd have to be the sickest mind ever to manage that without using a computer.

His loose leaf notebook is essentially a basic Excel model. He'd probably win if he bet into openers like the poors that make up 95% of this market, but instead it seems like he's betting after actual sharps like myself have vacuumed up all the scraps, which prob won't work out for him.

How much weight do you give to market reaction to your action? I guess in markets like CBB totals you dont get much push-back (maybe you do). But if you betting NFL and market moves against you, do you keep firing until you get your fill?

Fire until full. If getting faded creates a sense of dread rather than excitement then you need more confidence and/or a better model.
