if you're not willing to back your opinion with at least a little money, then what value can it really have?

I did back up my opinion with money. I got the Mets at 60-1 to win the East. They likely will not, but at 60-1, I think there's value there. I do not see them significally worse than the Marlins or Nationals as the books have been projecting. I'll also be making an over wager on their season win total.

This doesn't mean I want an escrow to hold money between myself and another stranger for 6 months to see if Lucas Duda hits x amount of home runs just because I think James, PECOTA and the other projection services have his HR total low.

me and tomg managed to get seattle down to -103 before it came back up but then we took it back down to +103

i hope this is a sign of things to come for us in the future where ignorance is high and allows us to get money down at great prices

it was prob more your whining about people wanting to bet on a betting forum that confused me.

now that seattle is running away with this it is time to start wondering if the sportsbooks would be better off to have me and tomg on their payroll this season and pay us not to bet with them

seattle only starting one starter so i'm going to bet on the A's blindly steam getting owned by us

I stepped over the line a hair, I admit.

The macho reflex post of "How much you want to bet" from one forum member to another just gets old. One should be able to post an opinion (and their wagers with a book) without being goaded into an escrowed p2p bet with another member. If I want to bet a prop, I'll bet it with a book.

cool plays. how do you determine where the value lies? (serious question, but feel free to disregard)

most teams post the pitching assignments for the entire game which is really the best thing to help capping pre-season baseball

if you know like halladay is only pitching 2 innings max or 35 pitches but then some no name is coming in for the 7th, another for 8th, then another for 9th it is able to project the game better

plus in preseason they tend to leave people out there for amount of innings or pitches so if they're getting shelled they'll stay out there whereas in regular season they'd get pulled

two main things are who is pitching and what starters are playing and both can be figured out through twitter pretty easy

presspass.mlb.com is a nice resource for pregame summaries including projected pitching rotation.
