I'm not so sure if that's necessarily true as to what makes scoring go up, or if it even does go up, but it seems somewhat logical to analyze the potential effect on certain types of pitchers more than anything. A workhorse strikeout style guy like Strasburg was completely useless trying to do what he normally does yesterday in Atlanta. Reports said he couldn't even breath and was getting dizzy with the heat bearing down so unbearably on him. At that point, it seems like it would be humanly natural for that type of pitcher to lose the strikeout mentality vs adopting a "just let them hit the ball into play and let my defense hopefully take care of it" mentality. Plus you can potentially get to the bullpen earlier than normal. I have no data to back this up fwiw though
