hey guys, just wanna quickly discuss the merits of betting and checking in this spot and what everyone would default to vs an unknown. (hand is played at 100nl ignition regular table).

i feel like there's still value to be had ott, but at the same time i think we can expect to face a jam pretty often given the board texture. bet/call off or give a free card and bluffcatch some rivers?

MP: $22.43
CO: $118.63
BTN: $57.00
SB: $104.50
Hero (BB): $122.41
UTG: $100.00

Pre Flop: ($1.50) Hero is BB with J Q
4 folds, SB raises to $3, Hero raises to $9, SB calls $6

Flop: ($18.00) J 8 2 (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $9.29, SB calls $9.29

Turn: ($36.58) 3 (2 players)
SB checks,

I'd just check flop. *shrug* Your turn conundrum is a reason why but in addition, you fold out his future bluffs.

I 3-bet here
Spoiler:
when I'm playing bad

No offense to OP. 3-betting probably isn't bad but it's not part of my strategy.

I'm honestly not sure. I don't have my #'s on this computer. I'd have to open my laptop and that'd take a modicum of effort. I know that my overall c-bet % is between 44 and 48, seriously. Sorry.

This is a board you would continue betting with most of your semi-bluffs, so you should be valuebetting JQ here, weaker Jx will call, 99/TT and some straight draws/flush draws.

You can make an argument to check behind J9/J7, but with JQ you should valuebet here.

vs opponents who would float a lot OOP, you can make an exploitative adjustment and check this back to induce some river bluffs.

Not 3betting pre, as played I'd check back flop

+1

He may be on a flush draw or straight draw...or 99/TT. Barrel again on turn for value. Check back river.
