tough spot with AK on a monotone board tough spot with AK on a monotone board

I had a tough spot last night in a very loose 1/2 game that I think I could have played better.
There is a 1500bb deep stack LAG playing ~80% VPIP. He is a lawyer who doesnt seem to care about the money and he is controlling the table.
Villian UTG is a tight asian player who hasnt played many pots in the last 2 hours.
Villian UTG open limps 2.
The lawyer LAG UTG+1 folds.
Hero UTG+2 with AKdc raise to 12 (effective stack 390).
Cutoff calls.
BUT calls.
BB calls.
Villian calls.
Pot= 61.

Flop: AJ7sss.
Hero bets 40, only Villian calls.

Turn 9d.
Hero bets 100, Villian goes all in. Hero folds.

I feel like he has suited connectors and sets a lot here for value. Im not sure if he would ever make this play with just a spade, maybe QTsx. I also think there's merit to checking back the turn to pot control.

Any advice is appreciated

This board hits a tight player's limp-call range pretty hard (T8s, J9s, 77, 99) so your fold was probably right.
And yeah, checking behind OTT for pot control seems reasonable, if villain isn't a calling station.

Im still confused by the description of the LAG that doesn't come into play other than he had what mustve been 72o.

With no spade, I think checking back the turn is the proper play. There really isn't much you beat and could easily be getting freerolled with AxKs or similar.

How aggressive was villain on previous hands?
