Bump

Also: Keyser, curious to know if your doctor put you on a ketogenic diet/modified atkins diet for your seizures? Just something I've been reading about today.

my doctors actually never really said anything about my diet for the seizures, other than the make sure I eat salt since I apparently had low sodium.

last week I was told to basically live off rice and broth, which is annoying. I was told that because I basically live in medical disaster land and stuff always happens. I got crazy bad nausea, threw up like 20 times in one day. Somehow my throat and stomach hurt and I was told what to eat and they gave me new medicine.

other than that things are going surprisingly well for the most part. I (finally) got to move into my own apartment and am currently enjoying privacy, which is the first time I've been by myself for 1.5 years. back to golfing some, playing with cats, will play some pokers before too long, and for the past few days have felt medically fine without nausea or sleep disasters or anything else, so things are getting better!

That's awesome to hear!

The ketogenic diet is usually reserved for pretty refractory seizure disorders. Most patients have to continue to have breakthrough seizures despite being on 2-3 strong anti-seizure medicines prior to the neurologist considering a ketogenic diet, though the diet is often effective in those cases it puts a big dent in most people's quality of life on a day to day basis with what foods are allowed and the fat:carb ratio people have to stick to.

The stomach flu (Norovirus) has been pretty awful this year (in the northeast at least). Sorry to hear you came down with that (or so it would seem). That's awesome things are going so well. Keep us posted on your journey / recovery!

Thanks for that info Shpanko! Glad to see the old crusher still roaming the forums.

I've started the ketogenic diet myself, planning on doing it short term to see what the effects are. Mostly doing it for the curiosity, and part personal challenge.

Happy Friday yall
Sorry for the late reply here (not sure if you have already gone)- I'm going to Orlando later this year on vacation for amusement parks. IMO, Islands of Adventure and Universal are better parks than Disney (if you're an adult).

Anyone else think that Ted Cruz looks a lot like Helmuth?

Don't know.
Has he published his penis size yet?
If not, I'd vote for Trump.

Does Hillary Clinton have a penis size? Like -15?
I think 'penis size' should be an official metric on sites like Wikipedia: Age/Height/Penis Size.

They definitely look a bit similar.

I've always thought more of Kevin from The Office:

^^ very glad he finally dropped out of the race ^^

anyway, sup Lifers? How's things for everyone? They are GREAT for me. I finally got moved out and I get to be solo, like I've always preferred. Doing great at some volunteer work I'm doing with includes some libraries I get to do fun tech stuff like scanning and PhotoShopping historical documents. Playing poker a bit too and I can still do good! Could probably still be a pro but I need a normal jerb for personal social reasons. Jerb makes me moar NORMAL. And doing a bit of poker coaching like I'm used to, glad I've still got that stuff stuck in my memory. All is good. Finally. I think. Hopefully stays this way.

Congrats man, that's awesome to hear!

tyty!

but your reply could be better. :-) It doesn't tell me what you're doing these days!

Not much honestly. Living with my girlfriend in boring Illinois.

I'm still working IT. I work for an eye clinic, and I oversee 4 clinics all by myself. It's incredibly dull work.

I've also started flipping stuff on Ebay for fun -- stuff that I find in thrift stores. It's kinda like treasure hunting. I get the same adrenaline rush when I find something interesting that I do from hitting a two outer on the river

Haven't played any poker for about 3 months, although that could change pretty quick.

You guys watch Mr. Robot? Just finished it, loved it. Fun to watch tech genius hacktivist heroes.

Ending was a bit confusing but I'm reading about it now.

One of the most fun shows I've watched in a long time.

SSNL Life Thread is still around? So sick. Hope everybody is doing well!

Not sure the last time I posted, but I had decided to go back to school for a second degree shortly before Black Friday (perfect timing). I crushed school because I had a work ethic from the poker grind and was more mature than the 20-year-olds. Easy game. Graduated 3 years ago and have been on the work grind ever since.

My career is going really well and I enjoy it (most of the time). Corporate life can be draining, but I've been lucky to have great managers and mentors thus far. Luckboxed my way to a position that would typically require 8 years experience in just 2.5 years. Poker definitely helped me learn how to be a logical/critical thinker and all my managers have noticed this attribute.

Dated somebody really great a few years ago following graduation but it didn't work out. I've had one other relationship since and been single for over 1.5 years now. I'm an independent person and I'm just not certain that I want the married/kids lifestyle. Not judging those who do. I used to think I was 100% in on married/kids, but it's actually changed significantly in the past 2 years and I'm thankful I learned this about myself before I got in too deep. I've only been on a few dates in the past year as I have been focusing on making sure I'm happy with the solo life before I share it with another person.

Always good to see this bumped!!

So what exactly is your job, LT22, if you don't mind saying?

I'm be getting a real job and travel into this "real world" place I've never visited before, heh. No idea what I'll be doing or what I'm qualified to do. Prob not much unless it involves clicking buttons. Could go back to school but don't really wanna.

I started a well/AMA thread a while ago. It's mostly dead but might be a decent read and place to ask anything: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/39...l-ama-1608677/

2p2 is mostly dead these days for this reason:

06-01-2016 , 07:26 PM
I work in corporate finance. This is a pretty good description at an unrelated employer: http://finance.yale.edu/financial-planning-analysis

2p2 is f'awful these days. i can see why none of the former stars ever visit this hellhole. it's like a mix of 50nl players who think they're the god of poker, or 400nl players who would like bet money they are god.

i've talked to some people and heard it's mostly a management issue. like admins did a bad job stopping hackers and trolls and spam posts.

or i'm thinking every good, smart player just realized that since they game has gotten harder, it's not a good idea to give out free advice anymore because it's just making the games less profitable. so smart people do not exist on this site anymore. maybe?

slightly considering just perma banning myself. but i'll miss the ones that stayed. :-( it's just what 2p2 became.
06-08-2016 , 09:18 AM
I think it's a combination of both things.

It's depressing to watch. I mostly read the other forums now. (BBV, NVG, The Lounge, OOT)

Ya no one good is going to respond to strat threads these days, or give any hint of a good site or learning method etc. Plus so many of the people who populated the stars threads, life threads etc etc were american's, who have moved out of poker. The pro's these days have English as a second language, and are on their own forums shooting the **** without a language barrier. The amount of trolls in like NVG is completely through the roof too, a while ago it sort of hit a critical mass where if you say something pro-poker pro you get pilled on by a bunch of jealous/unhappy/don't even know their motivation posters, and don't bother posting again. OOT/video game/etc etc forums etc are still some of the best on the internet, you have a lot of intelligent people who have moved on from poker but not those subjects who still populate it. The threads on poker that are american centric are still good actually. The amount of people who are enthusiastic about poker in them manages to drown out all the trolls.

Edit: For someone like myself, who is still a pro and still does a lot of theory work, the poker industry is really depressing. Never ending bad new with which you have no control over. I think the healthiest thing, at least in my sake, for happiness is to play and work on theory stuff, and work on something else to be passionate about, something for when poker is done in a few years. Devoting time to see which scumbag scammed someone, what poker site has decided to raise the rake etc etc is not pleasant.

Also, Lil Dicky has a new song, and every song of his is great:

Hi Roger,

I've been lurking on 2p2 for years and you've summed up the current state of affairs on 2p2 very well.

On another note, it's been a while, hello SSNL!

Best,
Quark

oooooh neat. A return!

I remember that you were in the military and doing a lot of military stuff, and I didn't know that at the time.

Still in the military? Or other work now? Basically, what you doing these days?
