Re: SSNL Goes to Thailand

ill be moving to Thailand early next year, specifically bangkok. I will be staying 6 months- year, setting up bangkok as my home base,
traveling to other parts of the country and asia as well. I have been to thailand twice just this year. its really one of the best cities to live in. I got a few pms already, but it does look like the best option for a better place is to have a couple roommates. Im no expert on bkk, but i lived there for over 2 months, and was showing some 2+2ers around towards the end of my stay.

There's just so much to do and explore, its like sensory overload really fast. I am scouting out prices now, and did a little research when i was there. It's very easy to stay directly on sukumvit road and get over charged.
it's not unreasonable looking at thai websites to not pay more 10k-20k baht per person for the month each ($300-600), for some sick places. Some of the websites that posted here or some that are in English, blow the price way out of control. I made a few contacts while i was there ( yes even some good girls ldo), and finding a place within walking distance to a short skytrain ride, is just as good as living right on type of busy suk.

Ideally this would be a 3-4 bedroom, penthouse/ balla- semi balla condo. obv all the amenities that a condo has as well, maid cleaning service, nice pool, security etc.

here are some examples of condos in the area, but again pay no attention to the price, ill be trying to get the best deal as possible in a safe area, just not right on type of busy/polluted/touristy sukumvit.

http://www.siamrealestate.com/detail...nt-sale-heart/

this is also a listing for high priced condos for sale, but again it's just to get an idea, and similar places can be had away from sukumvit, for say a 3 bedroom place for under 15k baht person.

--What i am looking for is serious people looking to commit 6 months to this. ideally we would meet up in the same week/ hotel, and then all go see the apartments together. if ur only interested in 3 months, id want to get another person to the fill the other 3 months.

Obviously Thailand in general is one of the sickest place to party and grind. this doesn't need to be restated if u have read the threads at all, but ill post a quote from one of the Thailand threads, that basically made me buy a plane ticket, right after graduating college in jan.

"I figured I might as well just chime in with my thoughts on Thailand:

"Thailand is an awesome place. The food is great. If you go to Bangkok and walk around, you will automatically eat way healthier, since if you're like me, you actually really like stuff like pinapple and watermelon, its just too much effort to go buy a pinapple when you want a snack. In Thailand it's like 15c for a bag for really fresh pinapple and you can get them everywhere. You can get a guy to blend a mango, some papaya and a banana together, for like 20c. The women are hot and friendly. I recommend checking out the south, islands like Koh Pha Ngan (if you're 18-25) and Koh Samui (if you're like 26-X) have awesome night life (check out the full moon party as others have said, it is seriously awesome fun), Koh Tao has some great diving spots and is a great place to learn to dive, Krabi and Koh Phi Phi (one of the areas The Beach) was filmed have incredible natural landscapes and beaches (yeah, definitely no waves though, people kind of just lounge around like crocodiles in the water). I met a guy who was playing 5-10 limit who was living on Koh Pha Ngan playing 2 tables and he was a pretty average player, but he was making enough to live there.

Bangkok is a cool place to spend money, there's good night life, places to shop like crazy, etc. It also has the best hospital I have ever stepped foot in in my life (it's also very cheap, especially compared to your retarded American version of healthcare, and even our slightly less retarded Australian version). If you want something more cultural you can check out Chiang Mai in the north which is usually the starting point for trekks people go on with the hill tribes and there's lots of temples and such there, it's an interesting place but not my favourite.

If you're planning to move to Thailand though, I think you have to be the right sort of person. I couldn't do it personally, since I hate being waited on hand on foot for everything, I can't handle people who avoid confrontation at all costs, and also because I think the life that you can live there is almost too easy. Even if you just teach english there, it's easy enough to get enough money to buy some ok clothes, get happily drunk and hook up with some random chick every other night. I just don't feel like you progress any as a human being in this kind of environment, personally I had troubles having any kind of real conversation with anyone about anything. But the people are great and friendly. Hard to explain.

Go there for a holiday and check it out, place is mad good. Go dive on Koh Tao, get wasted on the full moon, meet heaps of whacky backpackers, hook up with thai chicks and easy going euros, go run a crazy 60 hour bender in bangkok, and then decide if you want to live there. Bit like Vegas, really. I'd get depressed if I lived there for more than a few months though, I think, but that definitely doesn't mean you will."

--In order to really enjoy the place u have to throw caution to the wind, go, let people show you around as to what the best places are, and what areas should be avoided, chill, drink, and bang, all on a ssnl budget.

I've been to vegas and partyed heavily there, but bangkok is the real sin city. its like vegas on steroids, (w/o casinos). what an awesome feeling it is to get a bad beat, turn off poker, and go out, and know w/o a shadow of doubt you'll be getting hit on by hot chicks.

It's true u have to be a special type of person to really enjoy bangkok though. just feel free to join us if after long sessions of poker you like

-serious degeneracy
-lots of hot women
-alcohol

It's looking like this will go down feb. of next year. so pm me if ur interested, also add ur msn or aim, and defiantly your skype.
i'll be setting up a skype conference call where we can all talk about what we are looking for ( not for a while though) , but if u have a skype let me know it.

peace
