The details are a bit rusty since we are just getting this sorted out, but so far:]

We are planning on leaving in January (after holidays), and the stay is for 3 months, which I think is a good amount of time for a visa, where you can re-enter and continue to stay there, or return back home as you please. So if you are interested, plan on staying for 3 months (if you want to LIVE with us. Visit anytime!)

So far Phuket is the place. Schreech and several other 2+2ers are there, and will help us find a house and get settled in when we arrive.

read this thread for info on Thailand. Actually, just read it, because its awesome. Btw, there are a ton of 2+2ers there right now. But basically, its a tropical country where everything is dirt cheap, and for just over $1,000/mo you can live like a king. You can find amazing food very quickly and easily, and any type of outdoor activity is available (except ice fishing).

We plan on living in a very nice house (>American mansion imo.)

we spent some time on koh samui/pangnang and koh tao... fantastic u can island hop on allday ferrys islands r 2mins apart and they have the full moon partys on pangnang... i played for hours a day and could of stayed there for ever just doing that............had a bird tho ......lol...........maybe its time to go back

Do you four all play for a living? Or are you done with college and don't need a job right away b/c of the balla poker $$$. I've been thinking about something like this for the future but I gotta grind out a degree aorn.

A few things:

This is half true. Thailand can be cheap but it can also be very expensive. You can find a very nice 3 bdr house for around 1k USD/mo in Phuket. Thai food is very cheap (<$2/meal at a restaurant and street food is even cheaper), but you can expect to pay close to western prices if you go out to a western restaurant. Motorbike rental is about $100/mo and gas is cheap (~$1/day), but taxis in Phuket are very expensives (same price as western Taxis). Imported drinks like JD or Jameson cost the same as they do everywhere else. The local whiskey and beer is cheap. So is bottled water and gatorade. Most clubs don't charge an entrance fee. I'm rambling too much but my point is that you shouldn't expect to come to Thailand and live like a rockstar for next to nothing. Money goes a lot further here, but it's easy to fall in the trap of spending in excess since everything is so cheap.

There are (and will always be 2+2ers here thanks to Degen, but most of us in Phuket are only coming back for the fall. I'll still help you guys sort out your house, but it would be a lot more fun if you could bump your trip ahead a few months .

Yeah, that's about right. Just a word of caution I guess. I expected to live very cheaply when I arrived, but then fell into the habit of eating only western food, living in an expensive house and partying almost every night.

I may come back after Christmas. I want to travel to a few other places, but living in Thailand is just way too easy.
