Is this the right play? Is this the right play?

Hello everyone,
Playing 1/2 online NL.

MP opens to 6 (3bb). His stack is 180.

I have pocket KKs. Stack is 140.
So i raise it up to 30 (15bb) to isolate.

Everyone folds and initial raiser calls.

Flop is

2d / 3s / 4h rainbow.

Villain checks. I bet 2/3 pot. Villain calls.

Turn is 9c.

Villain checks. And I shove all in (85) for fold equity and I'm certain I have the best hand.

Villain calls and shows As 5s for a Straight that was Flopped.

I find it incredible he called my 3bet with A5s.

Anyway - anything I did wrong?

Thanks for the advice in advance.

It's a tough decision. When he raise/calls preflop I would almost always put him on AKo or 88-JJ. It's hard to put him on 22-44 and no way A5/56 without knowing your opponents play style. Unless he slow played AA you should be good and I think you're getting it in every time here with no flush out there. Rebuy and continue your play.

Hi MKV,

Invest in a database/hand converter

Don't show results (read stickys)

Always reload chips when under 100bb

Your 3bet is way too big. Anything $17 to $22 could be reasonable. Are you always 3betting to 30? If so that's a major leak, if you only raises that big with premiums you are giving your hand strength through bet sizing making it very to play against you. BTW, we are not 3betting KK to isolate, we are 3betting it for value. Isolation will occur as a by product since 200nl online players don't randomly cold call 3bets like like live players.

I suppose the Postflop line is good/standard. It's a little hard to say since your short stack and huge 3bet made spr awkward.

You did mention going for "fold equity" on the turn. Believe the term you meant to use was protection. Again, you are shoving the turn for value with KK, not protection (though it may have the side benefit of protecting your hand against a draw the folds). Protecting your hand is a concept beginning players often place way to much emphasis on. It should never be your primary reason for betting.

Moving down in stakes would be best. The average 200nl online player is VERY strong not like the fish you happen to get involved with this time.
