Thats true for Marvel vs Capcom games, and maybe even Guilty Gear games, but have you even played SF4?
It's more like a chess-match, most of the combos are like 4-5 hits, and they don't do that much damage. More importantly is the wake-up options and spacing for each character. Take a look at Umehara, the best ryu, vs philipino champ, the best dhalism
