couple months ago I went to a wedding of a friend (chinese). His dad owns a multimillion euro company in Antwerp and the mayor etc. was there aswell. The biggest institute for music in Bruxelles has a chinese CEO who wrote a music piece for them and chinese opera singer flew in for this. It was f sick lol. 150 people in big ass castle so baller and the kid is the nicest most genuine guy you'll ever meet and really normal little geeky what makes him awesome.

In Leuven I was standing at the red light when he jumped out of his car (he saw my nurburgring sticker) and asked if I drove there often and if I wanted to meet up sometimes. We did a couple times and shared hotel etc. and bonded and he invited me pretty sick actually.

Yeah I have seen this, but this only goes between Chinese. I have seen my gf's dad jump on a guy in a hospital bed to prevent him from giving her money.

That was, in hindsight, hilarious. When I was there I was just confused what was going on. I really had no clue as they were pretty friendly, but I rarely see people semi-wrestle, especially when one is in a hospital bed with a broken leg.

Interesting interview on CNBC with MGM CEO about online poker this year. I really hope congress passes a federal bill but even if they don't things are looking like poker will still get off the ground state by state. He sounds really confident about it in the vid.

I think you are right and I just shouldn't feel to bad about it. It is still nice of them and they probably like giving the gift.

I have several custom made suits but I think I want a real branded suit for my wedding. **** is pretty expensive though - especially since we will want to have a wedding in Holland and one in China. I think we will keep the wedding small (20-30 people total) to keep costs down, and end with a nice dinner without a party afterwards.

How much did your wedding costs if I may ask? I think the dress/suit will run 3-4k, the location 2-3k, rings 2-3k, food/drinks 2-3k and random other stuff 1-2k. 10-15k seems like a reasonable estimate, right? Keep in mind I count in Euro's so multiply it by 1,3 or so to get to USD.
The location, alcohol, linens, tables, chairs was all included at 40/person. We had ~110ppl. The food was 16ish a person. The suit/wedding dress were a combined 300 which we paid for. Dj was 700, photographer 600, officiant 200, cake 350, flowers 100, decorations/table centerpiece 200.

So a bit less than 9k overall of the top of my head.

alright, suggestions needed:

every day i commute an hour+ each way to work. while i usually spend the time listening to music, which is pretty +happiness, i've been thinking about how i can spend this time on something somewhat productive. right now the best thing i can come up with is learning a foreign language (or attempting, i dunno how effective it could be). any other ideas?

my american boss took a year of rosetta stone chinese and listens to chinese audiotapes on his way to/from work everyday. he's learned shockingly fast.

Pretty limited in terms of actual production while driving. I listen to a few podcasts that I enjoy and think I learn from. Not sure how productive I would really consider that though.

I listen to The Brewing Network, Joe Rogan, and A Mediocre Time with Tom and Dan.

Speaking of brewing, the wife and I made a mead today. The plan is to drink a bottle each anniversary as mead ages quite well and the batch should make ~50 bottles. It's a strawberry banana mead and the smell of the fruit/honey after it was all combined was phenomenal. Can't wait to try it out in a yearish.

Hey guys

If anyone might know of someone who is looking for a roommate in the Toronto area this summer, I'd like to get in touch with them. PM me please.

I'm more of a reg in MTTc but figured I'd throw it out here as well. Thanks

Austin - so my friend just got into brewing, and recently made his first beer. Pretty sure he made an IPA to start...I think. It was whatever his kit came with :/

He said it went through quite a transformation as it aged. It started out really hoppy, then tasted almost like a light beer, then got super carbonated like a cider. I think the entire transformation took something like 3ish months.

Is that normal?

Audiobooks are the nuts for driving. You could listen to all those books that you're "supposed to read".

I should do this. I suck absolute balls at speaking though, can't make the tones. I guess if I can understand more or less everything speaking would come easier later on.

Wow, those are completely different costs than what I have budgeted. Did you go to a special venue for the wedding? My fiancee would like a castle of some sorts, which obviously blows up the price.

God I hope I can convince my fiancee to take a <€500 wedding dress but I don't think that will be easy. Dumb ass thing you were once in your life, shouldn't even be €500.

What kind of food did you serve, or is food in general just a ton cheaper in the states? I looked around a bit and even decent buffets start at €40 per person.

my boss is completely tone deaf and can't tell the difference between the tones. but because he can get the words in the right order, it makes sense in the end. chinese is a very contextual language

i went to a wedding recently that cost something ridiculous like $300 per head. was fun but that is a lot of money. they had well over 100ppl too.

bware, move closer to work imo.

This just cracked me up for some reason.

One of the many reasons I shall be delaying marriage for as long as possible

We got a bit of a discount because we were referred but I think that was only 10% or so. They served some bruchetta as a starter when we were taking pictures and then dinner was a buffet with baked ziti, grilled chicken, roasted potatoes, salad, and rolls.

Our venue was the local zoo which actually turned out pretty cool. The lodge they have there has this deck that extends over a small lake and behind that there are giraffes. That's where the ceremony was and then the reception /party was inside the lodge.

Sounds pretty cool. I think we will want to marry in the late afternoon, have a short period of nothing with some drinks/snacks and then a really nice dinner, no party.

We will have a really small wedding so I hope I can find a castle with spaces suitable for small groups. Problem with castles is that they are big and thus less suitable for small groups .

Any one have any experience solo canoeing or kayaking? I'd like to get more into fishing as I live right next to a few rivers and being able to go out on my own would be great.
