in 6 months I'll have my master in business management (bachelor in finance). What is the "best" work environment to go for? Big banks or smaller KMO's?

Depends on your preference. I hate big companies. Some people hate small companies.

I realize...MBA is kind of a unique beast IMO. You have to some sort of understanding/knowledge to get into specific areas. For example, if you don't have a proper background to make you have success you're prob not gonna get accepted into a MS/MA program. MBA still has requirements in the sense of your work experience. Taking the courses in a BBA program isn't necessary to succeed in MBA. You can't just jump into an upper level program like stats/accounting/economics where material builds on itself. I can't just jump into an upper level accounting course if I didn't take the beginner courses.

I've found some classics I played as a kid:

http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/tyrian_2000 is FREE, OMG

also Crusader/Wing Commander/Descent/Ultima/etc. are all tempting to buy just for old times' sake

can't wait until this works on iPad, then I'll really be hyped

most top MBA programs have accounting/finance primer courses prior to the session for this fact and also because people have been working professionals for ~4-5 years average

On gog I have...
- Chessmaster 9000
- HoMM 1 (first HoMM game I played was 2 so I wanted to try this out, it kinda blows and is too easy/unbalanced, 2 is wayyyyy better)
- HoMM 2 gold
- HoMM 3 complete
- Painkiller
- Incredible Machine mega-pack
- Jagged Alliance 1
- Jagged Alliance 2

Yeah, lots of time-wasting that can be done.

Are there kb/mouse peripherals you can hook up to ipads? afaik these guys just do a minimal amount of work to get these games running properly on the newest versions of Windows and that's it, I wouldn't ever expect a big redesign to a game to allow it to be controlled w/ a touch screen.

I spent much much much much too long getting perfect results on each Painkiller level (the one with the cranes was a bitch). That game was pretty fun, and pretty under rated.

All my childhood games are on Spectrum emulators though... Some under rated classics from there include Chaos and Lasersquad should you feel an urge to sample some 8 bit goodness. If anyone is familiar with UFO: Enemy Unknown, those two games were written by the same people in the 80s.

HoMM 2 is one of my most played games. played 3 alot as well, but 2 more so.

A lot of the ones I mentioned use dosbox, which is an open source dos emulator. I dunno if that's easily portable or not. And yeah you can use peripherals via Bluetooth with iPad already.

Ah yes, I played quite a lot of multiplayer master of orion 2 with a mate late last year. Once you have your .bat file set up it's all pretty simple to use.

Mine's Stracraft (1). Then Quake (1). Then Red Alert (1). Probably 2500 hours of SC1 in the first two years. Played a lot of AOE (1) and won an AOE2 beta tournament though. No idea what the most I've spent on a single player game is though... Maybe Civ 2? That's only going to be 200 hours max.

Do I win chief geek award?
01-13-2012 , 07:00 AM
When I was 12 I played in one of the best delta force 2 teams of the world (from America) so that ment fridays & saturdays setting the clock at 2am and scrimming

Then I went to europe with call of duty, soldier of fortune 2 & cs 1.6. Won lans & was sponsored with hardware, trips, food & drinks, clothing and quitted when I was 16 at my peak and played more for fun till my 18th and started drinking and partying all day and somewhere found poker then

If you're aiming to compete for chief-geek, I played Starcraft at the World Cyber Games and was UK captain there twice. Paid for my first year of university by winning computer gaming tournaments. My first job was writing about live video gaming tournaments and going around the world to report from them.

Also I THINK Elky's first pokerstars transfer was from me. I was in the first generation of poker playing computer gamers (not sure of any before me asides from Lakerman).

I hope I win now that I've said all that.

Alright now lets get you that chiefgeek subtitle
01-13-2012 , 08:43 AM

I know someone with over 1000 days (so 24,000 hours) played on WoW since it came out and I always thought that would never be topped but you guys may just do it.
01-13-2012 , 12:27 PM
The thing with world of warcraft is that how well you do is entirely down to how much time you spend on it. It's essentially single player. Or co-op at best. I don't get why people do it.

why is that? Being able to travel to lans with a group of friends and play a game that determines a winner based on skill and tactics is far more interesting imo.

In wow you are only good if you invest X amount of hours in it farming.
