How would you play/defeat lags? How would you play/defeat lags?

I'm not really talking about the kind of players that are horrendous. But the more tricky aggro donks... love to 3b with suited connectors... and check flops when they hit...

love to call with bad hands in position... love to float with some kind of "read"

They definitely don't spew and can make some daring moves. Ppl like the durrr or isildur of low stakes.

So how to go about playing these ppl profitably?

How are most of those things considered "good"?

Sort of depends on where/when they are loose and aggro. Is it on the flop? Is it over 3 barrelling? Is it raising cbets too much? Question is too broad to answer. It's like asking how should I play the entire game of poker given these constraints....

Option #1: play the opposite style
Option #2: fight fire with fire

They love to call /float with anything... from trash no pair hands to monsters ... in position. Love to raise preflop and cbet. I don't know how to play them, because u'd have to get huge hands or else u'd just bleed to death in a short handed game. So what do u do? Play more maniac/aggressive than them to slow them down a bit?

They are basically skilled degenerate gambling no limit players.

You completely misunderstand the lags thought process. They are purely exploitative players usually... Just because they don't play balanced doesn't mean they arn't good.

Lags almost always play the levels style and don't ever consider their actual range. He is probably level 2 with some level 3 tricks. This means you want to avoid your actual range with your perceived range wherever possible. If you can successfully do this then you will destroy him.

Yes bet when you have no hand and check when you have monsters...his money will be in your stack in no time.

If they float with anything then bet. If they make overly aggressive plays then call down lighter than you normally would. That doesn't mean start calling triple barrels with middle pair no kicker, but start expanding your calling ranges at the edges.

How is playing the opposite style gonna work?

If you face a loose player, tighten up. If you face a tight player, loosen up. That's contradictive. It's like saying scissor beats paper, but paper also beats scissor.

I didn't mean it as crudely as that...
Yeah any reads on there plays are real handy but you may find yourself in trouble if they are ok players and you try to exploit them as simply as this... These players are usually perfectly aware of there own gaping holes... They will be manipulating there range in some respect as to cover the hole. Instead of playing the game that they lay out for us, instead of stepping into the spiders lair, you could confuse him by checking your flush draw when you would always bet it, then, when the flush hits he will raise nothing knowing that you can't call. This is what these guys are good at, making big heavy plays when they know you can't continue...

So, they are calling/raising you in position with suited connectors and checking when they hit their hands... Sounds like me. Holdem is evolving. You can sit around waiting for premiums all day but when I see you are a 11/8 and I have JdTd, I know you are stacking off when I hit. Why wouldn't I sacrifice 3-9 BB to win your entire stack?

How to beat players like me??? Adapt.

goddamn degenerate holdem players, what i like to do is minraise some of their bets, thatll slow them down.

what a pointless discussion, the initial question is so broad

Don't forget that if they are good enough leaving the table is certainly an option.

You wait till their luck box stops working, then you pile the money in when they get aggro
