Sometimes I come across players who are extremely loose and aggressive. They aren't afraid of getting money into the pot with weak hands, and they are unbluffable. It's important to note who these players are and if this player is one of them.
If he is one of the unbluffables, I would rather keep the pot small by calling the 3bet, and x/f the flop. If he were a short stack, I would just get it in preflop.
When I play against maniacs, they will take down a lot of small pots, and I will take down all the big ones.
I feel like you could be giving villain one of the big ones here.
If he's an unbluffable maniac, he isn't going to notice that you haven't played hands for an hour.
