I'm curious what people think about this hand.

Borgata open blinds 200 400 My stack 40,000, I'm covered

UTG makes it 1200, and i pick up AA from middle position. I opt to 3 bet to 4500, and he calls. the flop comes something like K 8 6 rainbow. Check, and i bet 7000. He check raises me allin. I have a tight image, and i couldn't justify calling off all my chips with only AA. My 3 bet pre flop definitely puts AA's in my range and i know he knows this, but he shoves anyway, so i fold. With a dry board like that though, wouldn't most people just call and let me hang myself on the turn, with a set?

Yeah, AA is in your range, but I asumme you're still 3-betting here with at least QQ/AK+, so it's hardly 100%? Would he not 4-bet preflop with KK? Would he always play 66/88 to setmine here against a potsize 3-bet? Would he directly check/raise here with a set? Personally I think this is an AK a large percentage of the time, and it only has to be AK a little less than 40% of the time to be profitable, so clear call imo.

I'm pretty sure this guy would have four bet with KK, and always called with 6's and 8's to flop a set. When he check raises all in I figure him for at least AK. in retrospect i should have called. He may have felt that I'd fold AA if i had it, along with alot of other hands because of my image.

This is in the wrong forum and you've left out a lot of info that will be extremely relevant here... stage of the tourney, was it a rebuy, reads on villain etc. 2 comments about the hand, bet sizing is too big on the flop and the shove is a clear call.

so nobody thinks that there's an argument for just letting the hand go and waiting for another spot while preserving chips on the chance that the guy flopped a set? I wasn't planning to rebuy either, and it was early in the tournament

Not that has to do with playing to get in a good position to do well in and possibly win the tournament. I guess you can argue that you don't want to risk your stack now no matter what, as you want to ensure some more time at the table with your hobby, but in that case you shouldn't 3-bet and build a pot pre-flop either. If your objective is to not get knocked out no matter what, then you should call the pre-flop raise, check back flop, then possibly try to get some small value if he also checks turn. Playing for pure survival is however a real bad strategy in almost all stages of any tournament.
