In general, I'm curious what people's play with small-medium pairs (22 through 99) facing a 3 bet pre (3.5x-4x) when you are OOP. Lets say you are UTG vs Button 3bet.

Obviously poker is not a game of absolutes, and it would be silly to always fold or always call here - but what's your play vs:

1. aggressive strong player who 3 bets in position a lot
2. loose/passive fish
3. loose/aggressive fish
4. no reads

Stack size would have to be more than 100bb eff for me to even consider 22-88. 99 is probably the cusp where I will call the 3b OOP depending on reads.

If stack sizes are not too deep then you need a little something extra in your locker - a bet folder would be nice because you can then attack boards you think they have missed. For example if you have a read that (1) 3bets on the button a lot but does so with a linear range, you know he misses a ton of low - medium boards, so when you miss your set you can attack him.

The fish will again depend on specific reads. If they have high WTSD then you know you need to hit your set to stack off due to the reduced fold equity.

No reads I would prefer a deep stack and some multiwayness.

Nobody 3bets 3.5-4x IP these days.
Vs. a standard of 3.1-3.25x...I would:

1. call 44+
2. call obv
3. see 2
4. see 1

This is very conservative. I don't think 55+ is a fold to any size 3bet (assuming reasonable/correct 3b frequency on part of opponent), IP or OOP. 44 is the borderline hand for me.

+1 against 3x, though I dont normally open 22-44 utg at an agro table
