limit player here. looks like i'll be playing this at least a bit though as sometimes the 20 or 40 games aren't going.

i do have quite a bit of nl experience, but more at party online 5/10-10/20 "back in the day" and some tourney experience (again years ago. only played 3 tourneys, but cashed in 2 of them. 5k was 26/591, and a 10k i mincashed).

the 2/5 game, from the 8ish hrs i have at it so far on a monday seems like a very soft seat. my questions/thoughts in no particular order:

1. any general thoughts on this game? from what i've seen it's a huge range of players. those who probably tried 5/10 and got knocked back down, those who play too loose and payoff too easily, those who overbet only w/ the nuts or close to it, old people, young people, and the one tendency i haven't seen in those few hrs was "too aggressive".

2. it seems that people don't tend to put a ton of $ in w/ draws on the flop to induce folds. this is ofc a limited sample, but i called off $300 to a k/shove on a very wet board w/ bottom 2pr thinking there was a good chance i was against a draw. got shown top set ofc. i saw the k/shove thing a few times on wet boards and literally 100% of the time it was the nuts or just shy of it (people were calling w/ top pair though or an overpair so i'm thinking k/shove should be used more than i'd normally think)

3. has anybody played the 2/5 deep nl at the borg (not sure what max buy in is but maybe 1k?)? is it just the better players or do you also get gamblers who want to be able to screw around w/ bigger stacks? i'd guess the 500max buy in is the better game though right?

4. how do you guys handle people being annoyed at lagtag kinda play? since i hadn't played nl in a long time i was on the tighter side of lagtag but still i'd be raising to $30 pretty regularly (i def folded quite a few hands i'd have gotten involved with had i been more comfortable) and 3-4 people seemed to get actually annoyed at me. like it's my fault that they're having a bad day or can't play their hands b/c they don't want to play for $30. i just kinda sloughed it off, though i did say "sorry, i can only listen to what these little pieces of paper tell me to do" a few times.

5. what is the etiquette of calling the clock on people? i didn't do it at all but really wanted to like 3-4 times. how much time do you give people before calling the clock? i'd normally say like 2 mins before clock calling but i didn't wanna be "that dick" or whatever. there were a few times when i did look at the time and said to myself, "ok i'ts been x full mins here. i'll give him another 2 and then call the clock". is this normal that people at this limit take this much time to make decisions? i will say that overall the game goes at a decent clip until one of these situations comes up. then it's molasses.

thanks and mods if this is an inappropriate thread or needs to be moved or has been done before, lemme know. tyty

In general live games are less aggressive and bluffing/thin valuebetting doesn't occur as frequently as online.

In my experience (not in this particular game mind you) gambling players tend to be the ones that start up deep stack games. More money may mean a higher ratio of better players in the field though.

In terms of betsizing it's sort of whatever in general. Who cares what people think as long as your making logical decisions and your logic is sound. That being said...

These last two questoons are largely based on what you need out of the game (i.e. is this income or recreation), the composition of the opponents at the table, and the atmosphere at the table.

As a quick example if you need the game for income and there is a whale at the table that decides to go shoot craps bc you raise too big and call the clock on him that's different than if you are playing for income and have 5-6 regs* at the table and a bunch of tourists lined up to fill out the rest of the seats, and the regs complain you raise too big and call the clock on them.

*Edit: in this example regs means players trying to make an income from the game. If you have a player that plays regularly but is a whale then we're back to the first example and you should do everything short of giving him money to stay (though buying beer is allowed :-))

Question 4 - Well obviously never patronise the fish. I just say something like "i cant help it i keep getting all these awesome hands!" Whilst you're an unknown they'll rib you for it but this'll eventually become less common as you become a familiar face. At the moment you're just some outsider ruining everyone elses fun, which is fair enough, but obviously try and never be a dick to these people when this happens and just take their ribs well-natured with a smile and some friendly comment back.

Question 5- Again don't piss off the fish. Unless it's ridiculous you never call the clock. It's cash, i presume borgata is raked, just chill.
