I dont see how you can ever consider anything but bet/folding in this spot. The fish can stack off with any pair, especially Tx with a pair or a naked T since he has osed so your ahead of his stack off range for sure. Against the reg he just doesnt have that many hands that beat you. Basically JJ, ATs, T9s and this just isnt a big part of his range and against anything else you have enough equity so that your commited.

You meant bet/calling, right?

During the hand I thought to check and do the following:

c/folding if UTG bets and BTN calls or shoves

c/shoving if UTG checks and BTN bets

c/not sure if UTG bets and BTN folds

if it checks round bet most turns

but most of you seem to advocate betting

Thats because you were considering folding which you really can't do since even if he shows you he has 2 pair you still have to get it in with your equity. You simply have to much equity and there's only 1 set left (JJ) and only 2 strait combos your in bad shape against and even then you have 15% equity against that range.

Since we established that given pot odds and that such a small part of their range beats you that you can never consider a fold then beting is superior to checking since you dont really want to give them free cards because there really are no good cards for you apart from a T on which you don't get paid anyway.

I did not think of a scare card on the turn losing value for us. However, I still think that there is value in check/ship because the reg may bet at the fish but not call us. I realize that if its checked around it is a bad thing, but I am seriously wondering if it is worth the risk in this spot.

Also, what if we had top set in this spot, would a check seem better?

Yah I retake what I said and change to bet/call. DIdn't take into account are raw equity we will have against any hand from it being a 3-bet pot
