I suppose checking behind the turn is the best option as I won't get called by worse than TT?

A half pot bet on the turn is fine to get called by second pair hands. Check back the river as you won't get called by worse

x ott is better imo but betting isn't too bad obviously. Kind of a neutral spot. Dunno what you were thinking river though.

I'd start by finding the correct forum.

Then I would check river

Ask yourself this: what hands, that you were beating, call your turn bet that will also call a river bet? 99 just became a set. 88-22? A5? A4? Random Ace highs? I can't see any of it. He'd have to be a calling station or just stubborning putting you on big cards, but that isn't likely as the hand was played.

Now ask this: Are we getting him to fold out anything better than our hand? Can we successfully turn our tens into a bluff? Obviously any Jack is at least calling (though it would be awfully tricky to go for the river check raise here as you're so often likely to check back with any value hands), AA-QQ is calling and pocket fives and fours are at least calling.

As played this looks like scared kings or queens. There are no likely draws out there unless he continued with AK hearts (or really Axh) and picked up a draw on the turn.

So you have two choices: either you can check back and hope that he was floating with something funky or you can turn your hand into a bluff and attack his value range, but if you're going to do that you need to change your sizing. Something around a pot-sized bet is going to be needed to get him off of an overpair. If you think it's possible. It's hard to tell because we have almost no info on villain.

In my opinion if he's calling you on the river then you are beaten

Turn bet is great and preferable to a turn Check as it disguises your hand very well since you can have a J, a boat, a float, or an underpair. It also sets your price for showdown and avoids villain seeing a free river. Check river behind though, as it's way too thin since you don't have over 50% equity over his calling range.

bet turn, check river as all above said
