100 nl QQ Mid pos facing 3 bet from SB 100 nl QQ Mid pos facing 3 bet from SB

SB - $110 - 35/9 about 60 hands
CO - $90 - 23/18 about 25 hands
MP - $120 - QQ Hero
UTG +1 - doesn't matter

Preflop:

UTG limps
Hero raises to $4
CO calls
SB raises to $14
UTG folds
Hero calls
CO folds

Flop: J 5 3

SB bets $30 into $34.50
Hero calls

Turn: 8

SB checks
Hero checks

River: K

SB all in
Hero folds

I think I might have played this hand badly on numerous streets. However, on bovada over the course of playing 50K+ hands I've rarely seen someone 3 bet in the SB with a marginal hand.

My reasoning for checking the turn is because I feel I'm only beating 1010, 99, AJ, AQ, AK. If river is a blank and he ships I think I have to call having shown minimal amounts of strenght in the hand.

This is more true when the board doesn't improve his perceived range. I probably still fold in this spot though.

Bcb is rarely a bluff. Its usually pot control for a good but not nutted hand or someone who cbet flop, gave up on turn, and got there on the river.

almost his entire range is "something" by the river and I doubt hes turning hands like Jx, TT, and 99 into a bluff often.

yes his perceived range got stronger and that may motivate him to bluff whatever air he might have but theres just not enough air to call IMO, the reason hes motivated to bluff his air is exactly because his range got stronger, following that train of thought to a call feels like leveling ourselves to me.

I think I bet the turn but don't hate the check back, bad bad river card followed by a bet.

I think its a pretty clear fold.

and, OP, I dont think you played it poorly. I just think it went South on you, it will do that sometimes

What are the merits to checking back the turn?

Isn't he trying to keep the pot small the rest of the way from the hands we get value from?

What hands can we get value from besides AJ I have a hard time believing 1010 99 AK call the turn. If he has KK A A JJ he's never folding.

But maybe I'm wrong that's the reason I posted

TT/99, AK can check call this turn quite happily if you aren't betting the turn with QQ here as it's reasonable for us to float here a decent amount of the time so not betting one of our best hands here seems sub optimal to me.

Folding river is probably best

Why do you assume he checks 100% of his range on the turn?

If he is folding turn so much that QQ can't get value then bet 100% turns vs this opponent every time and be happy he is a fish
