I wouldn't be so sure he doesn't b/f top two or a set there. I think if we decide it's +EV to call, it will usually be more +EV to raise. Hero's hand looks a lot like overpair / 2p when we get to river and check and when we c/r it makes no sense for us to have anything but 78 unless we have blockers and a kamikaze instinct.

I think it's a good bluff vs anyone since we have very little sd value, have bet every street strong so far so straight or set is credible, so many draws missed and a passive player can also make some weak 2p or even strong 2p/set peels only to fold to big bet on river.

      Angry Re: Unsuccesful Bluff Thread

I'm bumping by an epic spew that turned an awesome session into ashes.

The table was infested by TAGs (all but LAG SB). I had only PF stats displayed - 22/16/1.7 (150 hs), 87% fold to steal for BTN - but failed to look up that his BTN 3bet was 9.1% and flop cbet was merely 40%, hence my flop grave mistake - not donking (I was obv c/valueshoving).

I vbet(/folded) the turn but an atrocious river came, still I thought his image was way too tight, WTSD/W$SD=29/70.

Do I take it right that a timing tell contributed to my fail - I tanked like 5 sec before shoving (my previous actions were only a bit faster)? I normally take the same time before shoving for value, but this opp could be unaware of it.

That wasn't the main factor ofc - it's more important that I wasn't repping the nuts, and BTN's range didn't contain 9-6 as he didn't shove the turn. I was too tired after 400 hands to think it over, alas there had been no clear signals for closing the session before this hand.

Was the river bluff stupid? I thought my weak two pairs were basically air on this board, and there were two-pair hands to be folded out. I struggle with gutshot boards, think that I play them way too weak-tight and thus seek move-making spots - which ones do you find appropriate?

At first I was value betting then I knew he had a flush so I had to bluff. Note to self don't bluff this donk. What I find intresting is if he had bottom set I would have won. Did I play this bad? How come it wasn't believable or is he just a POW.
