I'm very new to PLO and trying to improve so any advice will be appreciated. This was a home game 5/5, $10 straddle pretty much every hand. All the players were very solid and way more experienced than I am at PLO. I have $600, table has me covered.

Hero(J,99,8)
PF: MP and CO call the straddle, SB calls, Hero(BB) calls, UTG checks his straddle.

Flop: ($50) 7,6,4
SB bets 50, Hero calls, UTG fold, MP fold, CO calls,

Turn: ($200) K
SB checks, hero bets 200, CO folds, SB calls.

River: ($600) 8
SB instantly Pots it putting me all in for 340?

7,6,4,K,8

This player was a good thinking player but a little on the wild side. 4 hours into the game I've only showed down the nuts and the other players were commenting how I need to loosen up. I feel he is absolutely capable of using the to bluff a missed full house or straight to take advantage of me playing so nitty. Thoughts?

odds are you wonīt get much quality replies either way, but more likely in SSPLO than HSPLO

as played, river is an easy call, you are at the very top of your range. donīthink too much about cooler spots like this, you have one spot though in this hand which really could potentially boost your wr if you really think about what you did, why you did it, what hands you want to choose to do it, and how the line you choose will affect your whole range and playability on future streets and hands.
hint: itīs not your river play

I was confused on if I should just call the straddle or raise Pre from the BB. Even if I pot it pre I'm pretty confident that everyone would call but with my hand that might not be a bad thing. I chose not to raise on the flop because I have no idea what I would do if someone behind RR pot for most of my stack.

Thanks for the feedback, and after looking back I agree that I should probably focus more on my earlier decisions in the hand.

Haha, did I mention I'm a total newb? Do you think I should have checked along or maybe bet smaller? Is call flop, check turn, call/bet river a better line to take?

Thanks again for any advice.

no no, imo you should think differently about it.
think about what hands do you want to bet ott, and what hands do you want to check with, and if it makes sense for you to have either of those hands after pre and flop action.
by no means I am saying potting turn is bad; it could be bad if you did it for the wrong reasons and how you are playing various rivers, but in a vacuum it canīt be bad. just think yourself how do you wanna construct your range, bc no one is giving you a good answer for free in 2016. you wanna have some value and some bluffs in your range, and there isnīt much more to it imo...
hopefully that helped in some way, you are only getting better if you think about those spots yourself a lot imo, posting on 2p2 can be very good, esp for you as a beginner, it also helped me a ton, but you have to be careful with how to filter the information you are getting. imo ssplo is still one of the best subfora (forums? whatever...) on 2p2, and you have all the tools available to get better, good luck sen~or
