Should I check on turn HU here? I didn't think that the card completed too many of his straights so I ended up getting it in and getting stacked, although I don't know what I'm really getting value from on that turn.
Also, is my preflop open fine?
Thanks.

I think you'd be better off check/calling in this spot, and probably folding to a pot sized bet unless you have some reads. I'd also be checking river and folding to second barrel.

Straight draws are just going to make up a large amount of the hands he floats with.

you can never fold OTT on the 8s with that SPR. I think you played it fine. Enough combodraws that pay you off and not always betting on their own. Check raise is also fine imo since you give up this turn a reasonable amount of time, so mb I like it more.

yes pre is good. great hand, so raise for value.

the other thing is, the main hands you'd get value from 666 and 777, your opponent probably doesn't have since he would likely raise flop (although I guess he could have slowplayed). so probably c/c down after turn if he bluffs or is unknown. good hand to bluff catch with and maybe he will value cut himself. this is one of the safer straight cards I think, since it completes mostly gutshots and if he was wrapped probably he raises on flop anyway. but maybe your approach is good too, just try to get value from two pair or lower set.
