few hands before this one he stacked off top pair on the flop, so i thought he might be capable of betting 2 pair on the river.

i think turn bet is fine, river i wasn't really sure.

Pot turn to chase away draws.

Now its kinda borderline he can be bluffing with the spades but lot of them have a 5 as well and all his gutshots have been made.

But you really have to pot the turn.

Why min open pre, rather than 3bb or pot?

I agree with derjan, bet more on the turn.

I think check/calling the river is fine, given that the flush draw missed and this is a good bluffing card because it completes a number of straights.

Take a note that villain peels wide on the flop and probably calls too much in general with weak draws.

^ I usually hate min-opens pre and don't understand why people do it, particarly at low/micro stakes. If you have a hands strong enough to open, pot it. But in this instance, I like it. It's basically just a pot sweetener raise if you hit your top set.

Pot flop. Bet more OTT as played. Sigh/call river I guess. Population tendency at 4nl is not to bluff. However, way more likely villain has a flush draw then a straight draw that got there. Given it's a close situation only I would factor in our blockers in the decision to call here and having a 5 in our hand and no spades means it's that bit more likely that villain did have a FD. For future reference though don't be focusing on blockers in these situations except in spots that are close.

That's fine in isolation and against unknowns (or button-clickers). But if anyone figures out that we're opening different amounts with specific types of hands then we're going to make life harder for ourselves.

Kind of reminds me of when I used to donk around at NLHE a few years back and one guy posted on the forum in complete seriousness that he opened AA for 3x and everything else for 2x, lol

I do every once-in-a-not-very-often-while min open (or min raise) pre, but it's usually for a very situational-specific reason.

Yeah, and this is one of them situations. In fact at PLO2 you can use exploitative sizing to your hearts content. Also, if someone figures it out it's not that hard to re-adjust.
