Re: ~ SSPLO HU championship ~ Brainstorming + interest ~
If we get more than 32 but less than 64 participants, should we rather try to get a few non 2+2ers join than giving free passes?
What about some kind of wildcard to cancel matches you've already agreed the date on? I think everyone should have one opportunity (for tournament, not for each round) to reschedule a match, so if you can't make it for some reason you don't get automatically dropped out from tournament.
About the NBIs and stalling... I doubt we really need any rules for this, I'm definitely against anything limiting your playing style (like no limping rule), but we could simply have a rule that if someone is clearly stalling and >80% of participants think he should be disqualified, he's out.
Also maybe some kind of 5-7 person panel of judges would be a good idea, just in case there'll be some disagreement about something. I doubt it's necessary, but it wouldn't hurt to have one just in case.

regarding the wildcard....the plan is to give 3-5 day window to play the games, that should be sufficient. obv there are always something that ruins the plans so i'd say 1-2 day one time delay can't be a deal breaker.
agree with the judges

Re: ~ SSPLO HU championship ~ Brainstorming + interest ~
That 3-5 day window doesn't really mean the same thing (unless you're saying you can reschedule within that window as many times as you want).
For example if I have a monday-friday window and we agree on thursday, then something comes up and I can't play on thursday and my opponent can't play on friday. What happens?

You will play the next week, and who ever wins will try to play that same night next round or next day/two

the bolded part is my thought.
i planned the games to be played wednesday-sunday each week, leaving monday+tuesday as breathing room (for possible delays, chitchat, organisational issues, scheduling matches if someone wants to rail/place sidebets etc)

So what's the consensus on the format? If matches take < 30 minutes, I think it could be fun!

Re: ~ SSPLO HU championship ~ Brainstorming + interest ~
+1 to not forbid anything like limping btn, and stalling shouldn't even be thought about by participants. i mean, if u wanna play dead serious for tha maniez, go grind your usual 6max games and stuff. this is meant to be fun and a possibility for 2p2ers to participate and compete against each other in a fun environment.
only problem there is with the fun is the buy in. for some people, a low buy in is just too little to even worry about spending time for the whole thing, and for other people 50$ is like 5 buy ins they had to grind out hard. so participants should only play for maniez they won't go sentimental about, it's HU PLO anyways so gg variance.

Well, I'm interested. If its going to stay at 36 entrants or whatever then I'm down for a reserve list or something.

i'd guesstimate best-of-7 to last less than 30mins. someone can set up a practice match on stars home games to try it out and let us know how long did it take. i could do this over the weekend
---
i think we can safely agree on a $50 buy-in. with 64 participants that would be $1600 for the winner.
---
"no limping button" rule is probably not needed, we just need to keep to a gentleman's rule of not stalling and keeping the games fun.

Half the price pool for winner is too much and top 4 paid is too little. Even top 8 paid is only 12.5% ITM which is still very low.
Winner should get like 30%, so if we get 64 participants it should be rounded to $1000.
