As well as what gruff said, you typically want deeper stacks to your right and shallow stacks to your left in a perfect world. You want to be deeper when you have position on someone becasue position will give you a big advantage and you want the reverse for people on your left for the reverse reasons. For the same principle it makes 3-betting oop reducing the postflop spr significantly easier to play.
