i want to set clear goals for the PLO stakes.
How can I set realistic goals?

On PLO2 i made 27bb/100 over 100k hands.
On PLO 5 i did not play 100k hands, but my experience as well as my results were almost the same.

Now I am on plo10 and also plo25.
What is realistic on the 0.10 an 0.25 stakes?
Not too high. Not too low.
To use as a rough guideline.

How do you guys set goals?

I have a lot of PLO mtt experience. I have also studied several books and many videos. Is 15bb/100 over 100khands as a goal to reach in a period of two months realistic? ( 6 -tabling)

Do you guys make such goals? Or is it just start and see what happens?

I have seen many impressive graphs from different players in the giraffe thread.

Depends on the site. On non-PS sites if you can beat the rake at PLO10 youre doing well.

Unless you play 400k+ hands, there is too much variance to bother setting a bb/100 goal imo. Youd have to play around with a variance sim, but I suspect +-5bb/100 over 100k hands is going to happen like 50%

If I'm not mistaken all PLO2 has you buying in 250 bi deep? This is substantial in increasing winrates as you get to play really deep with really bad players.

You might find a decent decrease once you are only playing 100 deep as mistakes aren't as large.

Winning at 4-5BB/100 will have you in good stead to move up quickly as a general rule.

Why settle for realistic goals? Go for the world record!

I am tempted to, but when contemplating these goals it's only occupying space I need to think about which button to click. There is an interesting question, does having reward based goals cause you to click the best buttons?

The answer is no. Just in case you was wandering and want to save a bunch of time in figuring it out, the answer is no. The next question is like sexual stimulus - it is Dionysian. What is it though?

btw an average of 100bb/1k hands is a reasonable goal, but it is totally far fetched due to variance. 100k hands is still a pathetic amount of volume completed in a week which can be one of many very different rides.

Don't go for records, don't play at too many tables, don't get upset over the winrate as long as it's proven as positive, just enjoy life while you're young. When you're well-rested, the winrate will present itself.

Thnx for replies. My plo ten experience is very negative. I run bad. Very bad. First in a 5 day losing streak i lost 3 bi per day.

Trying to play tight, losing 7 of 15 bi with aa preflop all inn..

Then i lost 14 bi playing a maniac getting all aa cracked and more bizar one out losses. Plus a non working sub premium strategy.
I won back 6 bi playing very tight vs the maniac.

Now yesterday i again lost 6 bi. Of which 3.5 bi with premium aa preflop all inn......

I have to move down to plo5 now.
This i dont like but i will do.

I must play better. Ive made many mistakes.

They say if bad things happen god has something better in store for you.

You realize that "realistic" is NOT "world record", right?
You will have winning streaks and losing streaks if you're playing well, don't get attached to your ego/self-image of a good player so that you go whine on the internet after some fish bullies you.

I mean, I don't think you'll even take the advice, but I'm working my way up so god have mercy on my soul.

You think too much. Its not about ego. Its about money. How do you pay your bills?

Do you have a plan? How do you get money in time? I assume you plan your work. You must have ideas how to make money for a certain date.

If you play recreational and use poker as an extra income, you dont need a realistic goal.

If you pay your bills from poker profits you do need a realistic goal.

Making an effort to become a better player, studying, developing a strategy, reviewing hands, analyzing spots you're having difficulties with, accepting that things like "luck" are part of the game (like not judging yourself when you lose at the end of a huge heater), playing lots of hands, will make you move up and money.

Caring about things like "world record winrate", and being all butthurt because your aces got cracked or some fish took money from you, in ONE DAY EACH, is about feeding your own ego, like somehow you "deserve to be better/play bigger than them".
It's just like the introverts feel about bullies and girls they always wanted but never got in high school. You want to make money right now, get a random job at an office or store.

By the way:
