Wp. You have about 26% equity against QT and 30% against T7, so you don't even need to be concerned with straights being a significant part of his range.

what about pf?
Very tricky spot, especially if as you say the btn is very tight and has you covered while youre both deep stacked.

With a raise and significant re-raise from a tight player while being oop I would probably just throw this in the muck unless either villain or myself is seriously short stacked and I don't have to worry about significant raises on further streets.

I would be hating myself for being such a nit but more happy I saved most of my stack in what could have been a seriously icky spot on the turn and river for most if not all of my chips. There are just too many hands that can dominate you even if you make your straight or flush in later streets unless a 7 that is not a spade comes out, so you're potentially looking at a 3 outer here.

Your preflop play is more than fine in my opinion.

What's the best play in situations like this?
We could potentially x/c and hope to bink our boat, but probably aren't being paid off when that happens. Alternatively by betting flop we should have the equity to call a jam if it happens, given pot odds.

So is that what we should be doing? Bet/calling in these spots?

    b/c.
Quick Checkup Thread - PLO flavour Quote
    06-13-2015 , 10:52 AM
I believe b/c is the only thing to do once SPR is only ~2 on the flop and you hit it hard. In the worst case, you're getting it in slightly bad, in the best case you're crushing. Usually you just take down the pot or charge draws.
Not sure this is a 3-betting hand pre, though. Those aces aren't too good.

Noted. Lately I haven't been 3betting a polarised hand like KK62r or something and been looking to play more small multiway pots with said hands. This was a lapse in concentration on my part and getting too excited about the AAxx.

Far from it. 3-bet pre. Check the flop.

Flop stack-off is kind of close. It's a no-brainer if you think he can have hands like A+fd and gutter+pair+FD.

How wide is he defending from these positions? How wide are you opening? You can start with a flop bet if the answers are "Nearly A4C" and "A range appropriate against a defense range of A4C".

Do you ever have, like, 63xx without a flush? If so, I think you can just bluff only with that. The hand you have doesn't seem like the best bluff combo.
Quick Checkup Thread - PLO flavour Quote
    06-18-2015 , 07:46 PM
He's defending close to 100% bvb. I don't think I bet river with 63 no flush or even necessarily play turn that way. I think having the single J in my hand is better than having both 6 and 3 in my hand. (could be wrong on this assumption)

I don't bet flop b/c I believe he will be peeling very wide on flops or raising as a bluff often and my plan was to check call flop rather than bet fold.
Quick Checkup Thread - PLO flavour Quote
    06-18-2015 , 07:59 PM
He should have Q6 (followed in frequency by Q3/66) more often than QJ/JJ.

An aggressive strategy should be pretty bad against you, given how much of a range advantage you should have on this flop. x/c-ing isn't bad or anything, however.
Quick Checkup Thread - PLO flavour Quote
    06-18-2015 , 10:50 PM
I couldn't put QJ or JJ or Q3 with his flop check back (plus my blocker). So I made the assumption that his river value raise call range would have to be Q6 (as I think 66 just raises turn). I think he folds all other hands which is why I shoved. Wasn't sure if there was any merit at all to flatting river though because I think he shows up with nut flush a reasonable a mount of time.
