All of this is wrong.
First think about
: what is a "continuation bet". Your words imply you think it's some invisible token, you get given that token pre. and then on the flop you normally play your token while your opponent is forced to react to it. This is cargo cult poker.
An explanation with more depth is that when you raise/3bet pre. your range is weighted higher and less uncapped. Thus. on the majority of flops you should still have the better hand, and so you can bet more often because of that general range advantage.
Then, understanding the above better, secondly think about what those ranges look like _specifically_ on Q64r where you 3bet from the SB. You'll have some QQ (AAQQ ftw) and maybe some 64/75 type hands ... but BTN has more of them, and has the lower sets and funky 2 pair hands. Most of the time you'll have good one pair hands (of which KQT9 is probably in the bottom half).

You probably have "no idea where you're at" because you bet too much anyway, for reasoning like the above, so your checking range is just hands like AQJT or JT98 and you can never x/call which just makes your problem worse.
Facing a bet, as BTN, I think I probably call or fold as a default ... and you'll only "know where you're at" when I fold.
