PLO5 - Responding to nit's 3bet

BB is running at 13/9 over 100 hands. This is the 1s time he has 3bet or squeezed. Afq is 36

PokerStars - $0.05 PL Hi (6 max) - Omaha - 5 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 3

SB: $12.95
BB: $6.78
UTG: $7.30
Hero (CO): $5.04
BTN: $4.98

SB posts SB $0.02, BB posts BB $0.05

Pre Flop: ($0.07) Hero has A Q Q K

fold, Hero raises to $0.15, BTN calls $0.15, fold, BB raises to $0.62, fold, BTN calls $0.47

Flop: ($1.41, 2 players) K A 9
BB bets $0.95, fold

BB wins $1.35

Is folding to his 3bet OK? My logic is that he's going to have AAXX the majority of the time so I should get out of his way.

If I had called PF how are we approaching the flop? There's only 1 combo each of AAXX and KKXX so the chances of him having either of them are relatively small. Is this a situation where he only ever has hands that beats me or can I call down on safeish turn and river cards in the hope that he has a wrap?

Thanks in advance for any responses.

Re: PLO5 - Responding to nit's 3bet

I think a call preflop is fine because as you say he will have aces most of the time and you can play perfectly against that and can get value when you hit a Q or KQ.

Otf itīs a fold because he will have a set here often. Sometimes heīll maybe have something like QJT9 double suited or another good rundown and you could get value if you call a cbet because you have the blockers but the chance he has AA is to big. If a A, K or Q comes on the turn and he double barrels you have to fold.

If heīs very tight maybe you could call one and bluff on a turn J or T if he double barrels, especially if itīs a club but I doubt he will fold to a raise and he will barrel on most turns if he has a wrap too and if you call itīs going to be a big guessing game and I think itīs best to just play safe.

In position you need to call a 3b almost every-time, with any playable hand, i think i hear somewhere PLO is 45% draws, 5% AAxx, and 50% position, any who see a flop and play cards

I think a fold on the flop is too nitty, like OP said, we have blockers, and there is a chance that op has a big rundown hand like AKJT or a premimiumm suited A like AJT9

Our sample size is only 100 hands

Don't fold pre. Too coordinated even though the QQ kinda hurts us, it does give us 12% to hit a set.

On this flop with an spr of 4, I would count on our blockers and just get it in.

please dont fold flop. you have two blockers, and dont count on someone only 3betting AAxx on PLO5. most likely he gives plo a try, deposited 20 bucks to become the next durrrr, feels like doing it this time etc... dont be afraid of a professional nitgrinder in PLO5...

How much does the fact that the BTN is still to act affect the decision? In this instance he was loose passive so he's probably going to call and pad the pot. However, if he was a laggy there's a chance that he might reraise.

Re: PLO5 - Responding to nit's 3bet

I would fold pre. 100 hands sample is not big enough, but still... I lost tons of pots vs nits thinking well, maybe they're not 3betting only aces. Don't put yourself in bad spots. Players at this limits are bad enough that you're going to get your money in better and vs a fish, not a nit. Anyway, your hand is in really bad condition vs AA

ProPokerTools Omaha Hi Simulation
600,000 trials (Randomized)
Hand Pot equity Wins Ties
Ad Kc Qc Qs27.77% 165,0523,106
AA72.23% 431,8423,106

And you will continue only on 20% of the flops when your eq is >40, so I don't think it's ever a good think to put money in in this situation

Wouldn't fold pre.

Reads post-flop will help, as if he's super tight there will be plenty of flops you can look to bluff on.

Re: PLO5 - Responding to nit's 3bet

There's enough money behind to call. The equity graph is good to know (you're going to miss 4/5 of flops), but you have pretty good implied odds when you do hit hard. Nits are generally reluctant to bet/fold their few 3bet hands when they have to call maybe a $3 raise.

Re: PLO5 - Responding to nit's 3bet

+1 for call...hate shipping flop tho. I hate these spots vs nits too but in my experience they do sometimes 3bet random funky rundowns even with nitty stats, also you only have 100 hands so who knows. These types often have pretty bad betsizing tells fairly often and just pot the flop with the nuts here. I would expect him to slowdown on turn if you are ahead so at least call flop.

Re: PLO5 - Responding to nit's 3bet

I would 4bet this hand pre out of position (very low SPR negates the positional disadvantage), but call in position. Never folding pre. On the flop, I shove. If he has AA or KK (which as everybody has said is really unlikely cos of your blockers), it's just a cooler.
