Hey guys, so one quick question for PLO5:

How does hands like AAx33, AAxxx (with 1 or 2 suits) vary with strength compared with PLO? Basically is AAxxx an extremely strong hand, or not unless the other 3 cards are connected in some way?

Hand: This was kind of a crazy call perhaps, but I feel (with next to no PLO5 knowledge) that it isn't a bad spot to flip.

How strong am I on the flop, and how do you play it?

I do consider this player is tilty and doesn't understand pot control. My stack came from him the hand before. This is my 12th hand at the table and in the game (late reg entry).

Not sure if I understood this. You had middle pair and straight draw and you b/c 40bb shove?

checking this back, happy to keep pot small and play turn/river.

hate to get c/r as there are many turn cards that increase the playability of our hand and we're crushed vs a gii range. Don't like to bet out and build a pot because aside from a 5 or T turn card our hand is still mediocre.

interesting you mentioned villain doesn't understand pot control

WEll yeah because I felt it was much stronger and wanted to GII. That is why I wanted to check the more appropriate line. Thanks for that.

I am not good at PLO5 and rarely play PLO5.

I felt on a rainbor tecture even vs two pair or trips I am pretty good to hold up by the river, and hold nut hands. Just guess I am not looking at it right. Thanks.

This is all worthless to discuss (since it's atrocious and you're atrocious). Go read a bunch of "Beginners guide to winning at PLO"-threads and try to play some decent amount of volume while keeping the things written about in those threads in mind

Agreed. The concepts you're missing in this hand aren't specific to 5-card PLO. You don't understand very basic PLO fundamentals. Also, learn PLO before learning the 5 card variation.

Definitely agree with the above posters. Regular PLO fundamental concepts are a must if you're playing Big O (5 card PLO). Only differences are that there's obviously more action, and I'd say there's atleast twice as many combinations of hands so constructed ranges will almost always be wider than in similar spots in PLO. Also if you think PLO variance is rough, you're in a whole different ball park of swings in Big O.
