play a maniac or quit? play a maniac or quit?

hello,

i just played a maniac in 6 max all night.

he bet 80% of his hands. and he raised them all.
he c-bet also 80% of his hands. and also on the turn he barrelt most hands.

When i got it in good he was lucky several times. Vs me but also vs many others. He won many pots for 500 bbs with a hand like 6327 os, vs ds AA. many many bizar hands pots...

Now the question is, he is a total clown, He wants to have fun and he runs bizar good. Wat to do. Stay plying becausse you will win at some point. or quit?

I stayed for 6 houirs, lost 14 buyinns.14!!!!!

then got back and now quit at 8 buy inns down on 4 tables with him.

i played very good. kept calm and disciplined.
So i can say i invested good. But it is a loss......

he build two stacks from 2300 bbs.And on other tables also 10 buyinns.. then lost most in a few hands. and then build it up again. Maybe he is up still 25 buyinns..

Just by betting betting untill people fold.

Is this the best playing strategy? do i need to change my style? it seems to work....

But the question is should we stay playing him, because at some point we will win.. or quit because he runs very good?

Well -14 bi sessions should definitely be expected in plo, especially times like this where you are riding the variance train, but if you feel like you don't want to lose more than 10 bis, then just set yourself a 10 bi stoploss.

Maybe you aren't playing as well as you think you are and a day or two away to refresh might be what you need.

Obviously this is not a long term winning strategy.
Monkeys can build up stacks short term sometimes, but eventually will lose it all.
Just start to call down lighter etc, use hes agression to your advantage.
They can be clicking buttons, but they are not stupid. Easy to push around people who get it in "good".
Dont ever quit unless you feel like playing worse than him, also thank god you have a guy like that at the table.

Maybe he isn't as bad as you think? Playing those sort of players is a swingy, high variance game. Either you are prepared to take it and reap the possible rewards or let someone else deal with the swings and potential losses.

I personally like those super aggro players at my table. Just the problem is I feel I sometimes open my game up too much and make thin calls which become sub-optimal. So I tend to leave if I feel I am starting to make too many mistakes.

It's important to not get sucked into his game and start defending stuff like 886Jss oop vs him "because if I flop a set I can own him". Super-aggro barrelers often turn you into loose-passive fish (ie it makes YOU easy to play against for HIM).

Position will as always be very important. If he is in the two seats to your left it can be veery hard to take any sort of advantage of having him at your table.

Lastly, buckle up when you flop something and have a plan for what you will do on different board runouts (do you want to call when board pairs/flushes/straights/etc) since you can reasonably expect 3 barrels from him.

^ I would defend that vs. someone who is really aggro, lol. If I see them stack off light, then yeah. However, I don't think most of these guys stack off light anyways, it is just they can put a lot of pressure on their opponents, so like you said, it isn't good to get sucked into it. Cause usually it is bet, bet, bet but they shut down when raised. So even when you get a hand, you have to play it very passively to get the most value and the boards can get super scary in PLO.

thnx for all replies.
Even though i lost i can sincerely say he has almost no skills.

I have played very aggressive players that played smart and had some knowledge. I also played aggressive myself in some sessions.

Now this guy bet his stack preflop two times with me at the table for more then 1000 bbs with total crap hands like 6327 os vs other players with good ds AA/KK hands.
Not to forget the many many crap hand pots he played for also significant pot over 300 bb.

What i noticed that when he missed the flop, and then i mean no bottom / underpair at least he shut down when floating him. But if he had something, anything he just pot street including any river.

It made me lose a lot of bbs on flop and turns folding And when i called he got lucky several times..

i then started to select hands different.
I chose smooth distributing hands. Not polarizing because he would call me down anyway and what to do with a bare set on a flush and straight turn/river facing huge pot bets every time?
Also cut out my preflop raising except for premium AAxx. He would raise, 3bet almost 100% so no need for me and it gave me more space to get to the turn.
including a very tight, TAG, strategy i won 6 buy inns while playing calm over a few hours.

Then he quit. ill be looking for him tonight. If you also want to play him let me know
