PL25 ZOOM - Win rate expected ? PL25 ZOOM - Win rate expected ?

Hello,

My question is quite simple : Can you make a decent salary every month out of small stakes (PL25) ?

i.e
-Can you beat the game between 5-10bb/100 ? (playing ZOOM on Stars)
-How many $ can you expect in rb with new Stars VIP system ? Considering playing 80k / month.

A "decent salary" means, to me, ~1500$ to 2000$
The player would be a good regular, we're not talking about me. He usually plays 35h/week but from France, stuck on .fr with low traffic and no Zoom. He beats the game in France but I guess it is way tougher on .com

Anyway, he asks me and I have no idea.

Thanks

EDIT: He'll have access to .com next October

Certainly a realistic goal. Many players on even just this forum alone are winning players paying the bills with poker, although most of the people who are making a decent wage in poker are playing higher than PLO25 (usually PLO100+) or they are at least supplementing their online hours with a live schedule such as myself.

In the current climate, a new and/ or otherwise relatively inexperienced player is going to get crushed by players even at the micros if rake doesn't put them under first. I.e. the cliche everyone is solid, rake unbeatable speech etc.

If you work hard and dedicate a lot of time and energy to the game there's no reason why you couldn't make a living or at least supplement your other means of income with poker within 6 months, but I honestly wouldn't go "all-in" so to speak on the game as it's far too easy for everything to go south on you and before you know it you're in bustoville.

Yes. But i would recommend you to switch to regular tables instead. I got a 10+bb/100 winrate at regular tables at PLO25, but hell of a lower winrate @ Zoom, people play worse at regular tables and are less aggro. You also miss so much information when you play Zoom, Information = money.

I get around $1k-$1.5 in rakeback from playing 80k+ hand per month.

I absolutely second this. Much higher possible win rate at regular tables, and they encourage a bit more thought and adaption to tendencies imo, so you are more likely to improve over time.

I win at somewhere between 5 and 10bb/100 at PLO 25 according to my HEM, but lose to rake at zoom.

If you are going to play at zoom though, I think you should aim for more than 80k hands/ month if its going to be your only source of income!

if you were to be winning at 5bb-10bb at 25 PLO then why wouldn't you theoretically move up?. To answer your question though you probably could make a living playing 25PLO but why would you cap your ceiling when the next stake level (50 PLO) doesnt hardly play any different to 25.

Bankroll and rake back should be a consideration when moving up IMO.

Zoom is so no fun. But respect to those who can beat it for 10bb.
If he has access to pokerstars.com in oct she will also have access to iPoker/Micro ? that should obv his choice. the rewards at Pokerstars are ridic for microstakes players. (even though i have to admit i played >20k hands last month lol...

It is the next step but he'll have to cash out everymonth, that could be a problem with BRM

I didnt expect that regular tables > zoom tables, thanks for the (huge) tip. I thought it was mainly full of regs trying to suck out the only fish at the table.
Btw I'm getting into PLO too, slowly, but you'll read me more the next couple of months !
