Pair+Wrap v. c/r

This guy is a maniac preflop but plays pretty str8 forward/aggressive post.

Is there anything i can do but call and play straight forward? Should i bomb spades if he checks? PSR~0.8 on turn.

you could start w x/c flop, you want to keep in his jx and crappy 2prs that hes raising you with anyway. yes winning the pot right away has its advantages, just a matter of how often u see him foldign to a cb

as played you certianly cant fold turn

    Jamming flop is okay.

Only point in calling the c/r if you put him strongly on a set - so can just fold board pairing turns. Or if sometimes you think you can bluff flush turns - or even fold if he barrels at them. If none of those apply - just shove flop.

    +1

only prefer calling if i have notes on villain that he misplays possible turns in these kinda spots.

please don't c/c otf. call the turn as played, but you should jam otf.

You know I stand by my previous post - this villain in this situation is probably shove okay as well. But I think standard is call, as it creates another situation where villain can make a mistake.

I think that it's better in this spot. Against a non-maniac yh, b/c.

i like being dismissed out of hand particularly w/o reasoning behind such. praying for FE on these boards by betting the flop is burning al ot of money particulalry if hes any big agro postflop. you dont want to be raised off or put to a decision for your stack w/ this hand. you keep the ability to bluff clubs.

i really feel youre just betting flop to keep the initiative adn praying for FE

I think checking here is fine sometimes but betting is definitely fine as well. Betting is most definitely not as bad as you think it is. Getting c/r for full pot is the absolute worse case scenario. I agree that this spot kind of sucks but it's not like you are just gonna be getting check/potted here all the time. There is def fold equity on this board and prob most of the time villain continues it will be a c/c. It's not like your just "praying" for fold equity. You get calls from jxxx and naked fd's and whatnot that you have fine equity against and can barrell plenty of turns and check back some etc. Obv your equity with your wrap goes down on two tone boards but betting the flop here doesn't just become some huge spewy mistake because you get c/r'd some % of the time. There is upside to both flop options and you are completely neglecting the benefits of betting the flop.

    Re: Pair+Wrap v. c/r

completely fine with betting the flop or checking it. Im not looking so much for flop FE, cuz I dont really care what he does OTF, im looking for FE on the turn bricks and having a solid pot for when I get there. Also, it sucks when he leads the turn on a Qx and we call and then brick the river and just have to fold to a bet, though if we are checking back here we are certainly checking back a lot of hands and will show up with lots of hands that arent folding the river on any and all rivers.

edit: basically re-said what WM said.

    Re: Pair+Wrap v. c/r

I think you guys are high if you believe betting is worse than checking. Its a HU pot, how often is he really gonna hit a J65 board hard? Also like gimmiethaloot said, if we bet and they call we can win on a lot of turns/rivers that we miss since our range is completely uncapped.

It's just sticky when you get c/r at these levels cuz theres no way its no atleast pair+A/K high fd or sets. (Which is also why betting is better than checking).

I'm just wondering if we call the c/r (rather than jam) are we folding on everything but our binks? Do we still get in on cards like this one when we still have good equity? Should we plan to bluff spades if he checks (doubtful since the PSR is so low on turn).
