so, since this is the ssplo forum, how about we discuss the merits of participation in the sit out on the ssplo tables?

I'm obviously not happy with the changes, but not convinced that this is the best way of dealing with them. I've already sent stars a polite and reasonable letter detailing my objections, but I'm on the fence regarding further action.

I think emailing is a good, cordial first step.

I think doing nothing is a bad alternative.

I think emailing and than also participating in the sitout is reasonable. It will show that a good amount of people are seriously pissed off. I don't think there will be any negatives to participating, I doubt that they will ban anyone.

what alternatives are you thinking about?

alternatives - 1. business as usual. 2. move to another site (don't want to because it's a pain for me to move money / I'm lazy).
open to suggestions though.

I think even with an email and the sitout its more or less biz as usual. moving to another site is meh, b/c when it comes to safety and security stars is gotta be #1 ( coming from a FTP victim). I think overall they have a huge power advantage in this situation and might make another small concession to ease all the noise.

I'm beginning to think Stars low stakes are unbeatable. I used to play high stakes and now that I moved back down there is nothing I can do to not let the badbeats and the rake beat me. I'd say I play better than 99% of the people at the stakes I play and the things I've seen over my last 300k hands lead me to think it's unbeatable.

The large majority of the time I get in ahead of 50% and to be a loser over such a large sample size is kind of glaring. I've sat with the best in the world and it's harder to win a 50$ pot than it is to win a 5k pot. Sounds insane but I'm beginning to lose my mind trying to beat this god damn game, playing extremely disciplined and focused and I can't beat the damn rake.

...and if you thought they're getting greedy at .com, check out their changes for .fr. Basically they've lowered VPP gain from 7.5/eur to 5.5VPP/eur, changed from dealt to WC and made both stellar rewards and milestones ~30% smaller (too lazy to check the old ones for exact percentage, anyway the difference is huge). So avarage SN/SNE grinder can probably except like 50% drop to his bonuses next year.

Seriously WTF is Stars thinking? I wouldn't be surprised if we'll see PS becoming a new PartyPoker (fall from practically an online poker monopoly to a stuggling small site) if they continue like that now that FTP is gone.
i'm visualizing these trends as well. if FTP comes back with an improved rewards system, could see a ton of stars players go to ftp, including myself. party is a joke for RB/rewards and stars could slowly be heading in that direction

I go back and forth on FTP.
Will the fish come back, or just the regs who already have $ on the site?
They've been out of the market for soooo long, will no longer have the same pros/promotional presence.

Will be interesting for sure.
Hope I can find my FTP dongle somewhere.

I'd like to urge you guys to join the sitout protest on Jan 1st at Noon eastern.

Stars in their switch to Weighted Contributed has decreased the overall amount of rewards they are paying to players in the form of FPPs without compensating for this by increasing rewards elsewhere.

They could've done this via VPP multiplier increase, rake decrease, FPP value increase, or any number of ways, but instead they have chose to ignore us as a community only popping in once every few days to offer nothing construction and in some cases roll back good changes (such as a rake decrease).

This is on top of the incredibly unprofessional way with which they handled the whole situation to begin with, delaying it without any communication and then 2 hours beforehand saying they had no timeframe, before dropping the bomb on us only days before 2012 starts.

Even if you think you won't be affected and your rakeback won't take much of a hit, it will. Stars is paying less total rewards out which means less money to be put back into the games and won by you. This is unacceptable and made worse by their arrogant attitude in which they claim they are "doing it for the players".

JOIN US AND OCCUPY POKERSTARS ON JANUARY 1ST, 2012 AT NOON EASTERN!
