I'm too hungover to fire up my laptop, but there should be an option to make your laptop work as a hotspot for wifi.
You can then share your usb dongle internet connection to the wifi network. You can also use your laptop to share the connection through that router, that would be easier. Google is your friend

Trying, but can't seem to get it to work. Don't know if it makes a difference that I'm trying to create the network from a 3G connection instead of some other method. If anybody could help a dummy out, I'd really appreciate it.

I think you need to enable teethering from the phone itself.
Once you do that, I think your computer should automatically detect it
I remember having trouble with this as well and eventually figured it out
Googling it may help u out as well. Plenty of info out there

Tried my best at googling, and found some tutorials, but can't seem to get them to work. Also, even though it's 3G, I'm not trying to do it from a phone. My mom bought a laptop w a 3G internet connection, and I'd like to be able to create a wifi, so that I can use my own laptop, where I have my HM database, etc.
