Rules: Micro Stakes HU PLO World Championships


(****Disclaimer, this event is not sanctioned by any governing body, 2+2 or any other entity real or imagined. It is being run soley to determine the best, most fierce (and perhaps lucky) micro to low stake PLO player on the internets****)

$50 buyin.

A match will consist of 3 games. A match will be considered won when one player wins 2 games.

16 players (plus alternates) have been randomized into brackets.

You will have 10 days to complete matches at each round (first round by Jan 13th). If you don't, then it will be up to my discretion to enter an alternate. The delinquet player will forfeit their stake to that point. The alternate will need to buyin full for that stage and the prize list will be increased. This will insure that the tournament proceeds in a reasonable amount of time and no single party can hold it up. So only sign up if you plan on playing a lot of poker over the next 4-6 weeks.

For several reasons, I think that all scheduling and publishing of matches should be done publicly on this forum.

Prize list
1st 50% (Best 3 out of 5 games for the final match)
2nd 25%
3rd 15% (3rd and 4th decided by a bronze final)
4th 10%

Please discuss this format and I will choose the most agreeable format tonight and post. Signups would be immediate and the tourney would start when we get to 16 people. (The deadline for the first matches would be extended to Jan 6th considering the holidays.)

We need 1 or 2 well recognized people to hold money, basically accounts on both Stars and Full Tilt. Obviously needs to be a trustworthy and frequent forum user, willing to donate some of their time.

As stated in the rules, please post in this thread when you are playing your match so others can railbird. In the spirit of this forum, I think this event stands to be a good team building exercise. Also, I think it would be fun to post big hands, suck-outs, etc in this thread. Of course please post results too.

When do you want to play? I'm in England so 5 hours ahead of Pokerstars time. I'm free tomorrow, can start anytime between 0800 and 1700 ET if you'd like to nominate a time? Or if tomorrow's not convenient let me know.

Does anyone have any idea how long a match is likely to last?

If you didn't figure it out yet, everyone in the brackets has already paid Hercules (that's where I got the start list).

I've PM'd out the password to those that PM'd me. So, when you schedule your match with your opponent open PokerStars and go to:

Tournament ---> Private ---> [Select] Special Heads up Matches PL Omaha

Again, it's the best of 3 HU PLO 250bb SNGS (No escalating blinds).

Post results here and I will update the brackets.

It's my understanding that once one tournament starts, another S&G pops up so multiple games can go at once.

No, not randomly drawn. It will be clearer when I put a graphical bracket up, but basically:

The winner of the TwistedEcho vs ClunkerDuds match will play the winner of the KhalynYohrk vs Kicks match.

I asked sc000t the same question and here is the answer:

"our first one went fast, the second one took forever so we started a third and eventually gave up. Its going to depend on the players.. "

So essentially, I think that you should allow a pretty decent sized window (like 2-3 hours). If you finish quickly you could start another if you wish. Also, I think somehow if you need to stop in the middle and/or it turns into a marathon match you could restart it by keeping track of where you were when you finished and then dump chips off. I would agree to this with your opponent ahead of time if you don't have unlimited time to finish the match.

It looks like it costs 1 cent to play, so you should be ok for 5 rounds.

It's a shame the championship will be decided in the first round between myself and TE.

so basically as i am in top match, much like wimbledon and such like, i am therefore seed 1, so that seems reasonable as i am much like roger federer is on grass at plo HU
