Yeah it was probably our best display at home this season in the PL, and it says a lot that we have taken six points off Soton who are just below the "top six".
I'm a bit torn over Sherwood. On one hand, i'd just like a coach that picks Eriksen in the middle (either 8 or 10) but on the other, it is nice to see a young English manager getting a chance.
I'm already quietly optimistic about next season! Despite the naysayers berating our summer business, its only Soldado who has been a major flop. OK Lamela has done next to nothing either, but he has been injured and he tanked in his first season in Italy before GOATing last season. Of the other players Chadli has the physical and technical attributes to be a very decent player, and is much improved recently; Chiriches i thought was very good (better than Vertonghen since he came back from injury...) and Capoue has done ok and we could certainly get our money back. Eriksen is obviously the jewel in the crown, and if we don't make the step to the CL, then when he leaves we'll get £40m+.
Assuming we miss the CL next season, i'd like to see the squad trimmed considerably. We have a lot of midfielders who are very similar, and it does none of them any good to play one game then miss the next 2. I'd probably move Holtby, Siggy, Lennon and Capoue on, which still leaves Paulinho, Sandro, Dembele and Bentaleb to cover the 2 midfield slots.
