You are at a 6 max table that is temporarily hu.

He opens, and you have AJJ2 with a nut suit. Match just started, he has opened Q779 so far but this tells you not much. Do you three bet this hand?

Pretty standard 3b. Glad you're not considering folding.

Alright, I 3 bet. He is 60 bb, i cover. He 4 bets. What % of hands do you think he is four betting, and should we call against that range?

Usually it will be a pretty tight range and we should fold. The 60bb is really tempting though. Players that buy in short or are unwilling to reload are more likely to spazz out. Also with 60bb you're almost committed after the 3bet.

I'm sure 3betting pre, calling the 4bet, and getting it in on non-terrible flops is the optimal play. The question is just how passive a random is. Just enough IMO that its better to exploit them with folds.

I think this problem can be mapped pretty well with a hand equity graph. They go 3x, I go 9x, they go 27x. We give them a tight range. How tight? 5%? I'm getting 2:1, and will almost certainly get action on 'my flops'. Some flops may appear to be mine but are in fact his.

I will flop 50% equity around 28% of the time. I'm also going to be getting 2.7?:1 so i need only 27% equity to stack off, which I will have around half the time.

Another factor, my opponent had bought in 30 bb and doubled up two hands earlier. So maybe he is slightly weighted to having stronger hands here because of this event.

Havent done the math but I doubt you can profitably call the 4bet even vs 5% or 10% ranges. You need about 42.5% to gii, which you have vs top 10%, so that could be an option
