2/2 live, 9 player

mp (villain) = $300
but (hero = 2 5 k k) = $300

preflop:
utg straddles to $5, mp calls, hj calls, hero calls, sb/bb calls

I don't like raising with naked KK.

flop ($30): 3 8 K
sb/bb/utg checks, mp bets $25, hj calls, hero calls, rest fold

mp is a tight player. I haven't seen him play many hands.
hj chases draws but there's no draw on this board. no idea what he has.

I call because it's a safe flop to slowplay.
Should I have raised? If so, WHY?

turn ($105): 8
mp/hj checks, hero bets $40, mp calls, hj folds

river ($185): 7
MP pots, Hero?

What do you make of this?
This a crying call?

what would you have done? And WHY?

Is this a level? Why wouldn't we go broke here?

I go broke with too boat every time. I realize that in PLO quads are a little more frequent an occurrence than in NLHE, but hey, I still pay em off if I have top boat. Otherwise you miss too much value.

I raise the flop, why? Because we have the best of it, why not get more money in when we have the best of it? It's also likely to get us in a HU situation.

I raise turn here as well, to get value out of 8x and 8's full hands.

Sorry he had 88.

he's a tight player. in the 2hrs I've played w/him, I haven't seen him out of line.

he check/calls turn, then shoves on a blank river = my spidey sense tingling

I didn't want to scare anyone out of the flop. raising on a dry flop would tell the whole world I have a set.
um.. I bet out on turn. you mean bet more?

Yes, IME low stakes players will pay you off on the turn w almost any 8 in their hand. Get max value.

What if he has K8? It would be a perfect opportunity to double up.
You underrepped your hand on the flop to get to this exact scenario. If you were going to play scared for the other streets you should have raised the flop to identify your hand. Your turn bet is anemic so why cant you call the river? I dont get it.

raise flop small'ish for value even on that dry texture.

bet turn larger

cant fold river now even tho he has quads a decent amount with his line. one of the problems is he can have underboats too how the hand played out. especially with your turn sizing.

Your hand is so underrepped you have to shove the river unless you can read his soul.

Don't mind the flop play. Zero draws so let someone catch up a bit.

vs players that are betting k8xx on the turn vs me I fold the river. vs everyone else I usually get it in. definitely need history to fold though and only know a couple players i would comfortably fold to.

I cry call if I'm in the middle of peeling onions whilst playing the hand. Otherwise I don't really know why I'd be crying.

If MP is tight you can definitely raise flop since he probably has a set very often. I mean his line does look a lot like 88 and even though there's only 1 combo of 88 I'm not sure there are many combos of K8. (lack of K8 in his pf-range, most of his K8 will bet the turn, don't see why K8 would just flat the turn but then pot the river) So K8 may only be 1 combo as well.

But w/o more reads I just think there's too many assumptions we're making about villain and you can't fold top boat here since we can't assume he has 88 more than 50% of the time.

bet bigger on turn. nothing other than an 8 is calling and 8s are calling for just about any amount

raise on the flop. if he folds 88xx then raise this flop with 100% of your range
