He seems extremely passive altought few hands...

Rarely he will play AAXX like this and we are blocking it, 88XX is rare if he play it like this too and altought it makes a bit more of sense, there are few combos too...

Should we call just for good pot odds and the possibility that he overplays his hands?

The logic of the hand might not matter after he reraises the river. He might be a player that deserves to get called when you hold the exact hand you hold. Other than that, it looks like you are beat.
