I used to lurk in this forum in the past and it used to be pretty active with comments and monthly graphs and stuff. Now it seems like a tumbleweed can go through and no one will notice.

Is Small Stake PLO dead?

Yup. Winners are afraid to give out information, so many 2p2 subs are drying up.

Based on US sites I do think PLO capped off. US sites were smaller 2-3 years ago and the same amount of PLO traffic is available.

You act like moving up is a permanent state. Before I start playing I always check the lobby of every PLO Zoom stake out of interest what my old fellas are doing. In between one month you see the guys going from PLO5 to PLO100 and back.

My general rule would be if you move up youre atleast safe for 2 limits below that. So if you play PLO50, you should never play PLO5 again if ure not completely retar*ded.

The swings are so brutal, anything can happen to basically everyone.

This is my graph for yesterday for PLO50

The ability to stay calm to some extend is one of the most important skills when its running ugly. I suck at this still to this date. If u lose 10 buy ins you need 1) one luck hand which wins you 2-3 buy ins, so you get confidence back, start feeling good and it usually goes back up 2) a well played hand which wins you 2-3 buy ins to get same result, which obviously isnt easy if you are tilting

Thats like 2k hands (900 hands if you only count the downswing) in total, 10 buy ins is alot for that sample. In PLO50 thats 500 Dollars. For one day. There are people working 40 hours for that kind of money. Wasnt easy to handle.

There are different ways to perceive a $500 loss.

1. The shortsighted fear: 'Ouch, I've just lost my 2 monthly rents.'

2. Thinking about the longterm profit: 'Ouch, Amnesty International will inherit only $100000 after my death instead of $100500.'

If only getting a $15/hr job was easy to get then you can earn $500/40 hrs.

Gotta love commission based jobs. You either make it or your just an absolute failure at life for the week.

who can blame them. I wonder if there is a harder profession to succeed in than poker. I mean it takes skill on so many levels

1) mental game
2) talent
3) hard work
4) obstacles like rake/downswings

The difference to other profession who also require a good mental game is that you have this pressure constantly. You need to keep up the concentration 100% of the time cause one second of slipping already can cost you tons of money.

I will answer that ****ing question in a few years.

obvious answer is how you define success obv. money alone?
if you for example go by official kill count I take medicine any day.

I was playing two years of plo10 and plo20 but haven't been playing for close to a year now, that seems to have resulted in games not running as much anymore. But I am not changing to nlh, in spite of that (and I can play nlh as well) because I am too worried about nlh being/becoming a technically dead game.

I played some at stars also when the games were better, but had to stop there. And seeing even plo2 zoom being a nit fest, it also became clear that the old times of plo will die. Some top players still think plo is the better game, but they haven't been getting up to any action anymore.
