Preflop: Hero is SB with K Q 6 Q
BTN raises to $0.17, Hero calls $0.15, BB calls $0.12
Flop: ($0.51) Q 4 3 (3 players)
BTN bets $0.51, Hero raises to $2.04, BB folds, BTN raises to $6.63, Hero calls $2.79 and is all-in
Turn: ($10.17) 6 (2 players, 1 is all-in) River: ($10.17) 9 (2 players, 1 is all-in)
I felt like check raising was the best option because they get a piece of the board enough of the time to bet and let me put a raise to pump up the pot.
I got it in good but is this the optimal play?
Spoiler:
Results: $10.17 pot ($0.50 rake)
Final Board: Q 4 3 6 9
BB mucked and lost (-$0.17 net)
BTN showed and won $9.67 ($4.67 net)
Hero showed K Q 6 Q and lost (-$5 net)
The problem with leading is that BB has to over fold quite a lot in this position because of the stack sizes at the table for the other two players. It puts him in a very tough spot. I would personally go for a check-raise here as there is a lot that can call it off on this draw heavy of a board but I don't think a lead is necessarily bad, I just don't like leading in spots like this where the turn is going to be a big change in the board. If you were 200bb deep as well I would check call flop and check raise turn.
