Constructive advice? Which is what I give when I respond to posts. I also always give the poster the benefit of the doubt.

But lets say I had a 5 percent edge. Given a small bankroll, would jamming be correct?

Correct play is to jam.
Your mistake is the small BR.

You're starting to sound like these people.

Well not exactly. I'd love a margin that big.

But I am risk-averse. After watching HSP over and over again, I've noticed the best NL holdem players (who I think were clearly Ivey, Doyle, Todd, and Barry) were the most conservative players there, and that says something. It's not sexy, but they always seemed to post wins.

Remember when Doyle laid down that T high flush against Jamie Gold? Amazing. I was amazed at that play and I still admire it, although I think it was the wrong fold given Jamie's play and that only the Jack high flush (I think) beat him. But - Doyle trusted his read and his gut and chose to find a better spot - and he knew there would be much better spots in the game since it was such a soft game.

Well 'small' is a subjective term so it is difficult to say. But your edge in this spot isn't 5%, it's 50%. It's a huge edge. There is some dead money and you are always a favourite and usually a significant favourite. To be sure you should not risk, for example, 30% of your bankroll on a 5% edge, especially if that 5% edge comes from a 3 way all in. But you probably should risk even as much as 20% of your bankroll on a 50% edge even if it is not an even money wager.

How are you getting 50% edge?

I ran a simulation and got:

Hero: 42.95
Villain: 29.11
BB: 27.94

Most of the time we lose the pot. In the side pot (which is substantial) we have a 67% chance to beat villain's hand, which is really only a 17% edge over 50/50.

There's not a ton of dead money - only $45 so we can't overcount that

Go play nlhe and wait for aces there instead

Playing PLO live and being scared money is just super ******ed. What are you gonna do when you flop top set on KT8hh and see a bet and raise before you? lmao. I really don't see how you can play a game which involves non-avoidable flips for stacks and then not want to put in your money preflop with a good edge.
