Thanks for taking the time to answer Ben.

Please could you tell some Dubya stories?

Does Pommo still play / what's he doing these days? Tell him to re-start his blog!

What's devilfish like at plo? Does he play online? How would he fare at $25/50 + online? Would you back him at those stakes? Is he the most over-rated British player?

Same question above re Dave Colclough.

Seriously, can I come and watch you play. I'd be your butler whilst you play PM me!

Hi Ben,

Carpio here. I almost made a big long post but most of it would have been bullcrap. Things you know and I know, I know now you knew then, I know now you know now and so on. Had a few questions too but mainly know what you are gonna say so why would we bother.

In the end played bad made me tilt and busto, gg. You are the best. Better tactics, disipline, stoploss and everything. Most of these guys see only stats but i've played and lost enough to you to know that you are very good.

So this just turned out to be one of those many hail ben grundy posts

Do you think it's possible to get away with playing as loose as you do in a 6max game against top players? Would you do anything to adjust playing in a game with the 5 players you listed as the best 6max players vs playing an average 25/50 6max game on FTP or Betfair or wherever else?

Thanks again for doing this, I'll try to think of some more.
Yeh i guess its just a raw figures thing. It’s only really this year that i’ve played mainly 2-4 handed. Whereas 2006/2007 i was playing mainly 4-6 handed.

I’ve rarely played 6 handed games against all top players. I don’t play quite as sick loose 6 handed; i cut out hands with small pairs when i can because they are evil.

I’d probably would just carry on playing my normal game. If i try and change the way i play, i invariably play worse. That’s what happens sometimes when i play 200/400. I don’t make as many good calls and bluff enough, and just become to pass friendly.

It doesn't really bother me either way. I played my own money for 3-4 years as a pro, and for the last 10 months someone elses money

I think it takes ages to really get good at PLO. You can't just switch even if you are a great player at NL and expect to be good overnight. Most NL players initially become ABC tight aggressive, which is pretty expoitable HU and short handed.

more questions:

What type of setup do you have? How many monitors etc?
How many tables are you comfortable playing at a time?
Do you have a poker office in your house?
Do you watch TV or listen to music when playing?
What is your policy of browsing the intertubes or having your msn switched on when playing?

thanks again.

If you played against a random, adequately rolled, fairly standard player and he had the button every hand, are you a favourite? It's just it seems you are comfortable playing oop.

From this can you tell us a little about position in plo. How much more/less important is it than in nl 3/4 handed and 6max?

Many thanks and gl!

I spent a fair bit of time analysing sessions on Poker Tracker, and looking at all the big pots i've played. I read the forums, but more for news than strategy.

I rarely talk through hands with friends, as they would block me on MSN!

Describe some of the things you'd do to Liv Boeree.
I don't really know Sam, Pete or Tony that well at all, i've never even heard of Pete Linton....

As for Liv, she's a nice girl. I met her at a poker photo shoot before Vegas. Women are good for poker

Yeh probably... i know a big NL game runs, 25 50 with a 100 straddle in sterling. Easy to swing £10k plus in that game. I don't think a big Omaha game would run, although i did hear they were playing high stakes NL Omaha during one of the festivals which is truly bizarre....

Also, as a more general question, how often do you check/call the flop when playing HU? What kind of hands would you check/call on a typical Q94 board with a flush draw?

Finally, how do you balance your betting/checking ranges on low paired boards with the betting lead in HU and 3-way pots? Against an intelligent, reasonably aggressive player, how often will you C-bet a 944r board with air? How often will you bet it with JJ? With AA?
Hmm passive players are frustrating HU. I guess most of what you say is right, plus i tend to 2/3 barrel them more through the streets. I may alter the size of my bets on the flop in 3 bet pots, because you are just as likely to win with a C bet on the flop for 50-60% of the pot, as you are for the full pot against passive players.

Assuming i’m 100bb deep the weakest hands i’m probably going to check call with are JQKx, TKKx, Q4xx, Q9 (no improvement). Its also very player dependant. Some players i’ll check raise Q9xx, others i’ll just call.

In a HU pot, if i’m the preflop raiser with position, if i have JJ-AA (with no 4) on the 944 rainbow flop, i’ll often just check behind. It’s just too tricky when you get check raised. If they check again on the turn i’ll probably make a bet then, if they raise and i decide they are bluffing (which players do alot more on the turn after you have checked the flop and shown weakness), its less expensive to call them down.

Do you think omaha players take too many leaks to holdem when they switch?
Hmmm probably not. If anything in NL Hold'em short handed there is even more bluffing, and "feel" needs to be used just as much

I've had two bad downswings, i guess i tightened up a bit, because the bankroll was taking a nosedive. On my accounts i get so much action, a rock would love to play my accounts.

Probably my Grandma. She is like the centre of the whole family, and is just a great person.

I think its very hard to be one of the best at both NL and PL Omaha online, most people are good at one and competant at the other. Its rare that people start at Omaha and switch to NL, its normally the other way.

is that graph confirmed? if so sick sick sick
1. Small pairs in 4-6 handed games.

2. Yeh i've considered it, and had some good offers. Just not sure if its for me.

3. I probably play 2-4 hours on days that i play. I get bored if i play more and short spells of total concentration work best for me.

4. Zero game selection at 25 50 and 50 100. A bit of game selection if i play higher.

5. More likely to slowplay out of position if i think that my opponent is going to keep firing.

I have a bunch more graphs that i'll post on my blog in a few weeks

If i 3/4 bet pre, i'll probably continuation bet 50% of flops, check raise around 25% and check fold 25%, something around that anyway.
