AQQ8ds preflop spot
BTN is 19/13, relatively tight opening BTN 40%, but the BB is a 60/40/21 nutcase 3b the BB 28% over a large enough sample.
Should I 4b here or just call? Should I 3b preflop the first time if I dont intend to 4b here?
Grabbed by Holdem Manager
PL Omaha $1(BB) Replayer
Hero ($187)
BB ($178)
UTG ($137)
CO ($100)
BTN ($139)
Dealt to Hero 8 Q Q A
fold, fold, BTN raises to $3.50, Hero calls $3, BB raises to $14, BTN calls $10.50, Hero?

Re: AQQ8ds preflop spot
You can 4b to 47, right? I like backraising then
If you want lesser variance, I think 3betting the first time around is going to cut the maniac out often, but that's not necessarily a good thing.

Re: AQQ8ds preflop spot
Do you think it is ok to go all in pre with this hand?
It is kinda dumb no ?
I mean you are dominated by aces and kings

Re: AQQ8ds preflop spot
We still have 33% against random AAxx, so if we 4b it's actually an easy 4b/call. Moreover, maniacs like this sometimes decide to 5bet random crap because they feel like gambling so we have a very +EV 4b/call.

No.
If BTN opens 40% OTB its a 3b PF for me. Especially if you suspect aggro-clown to 4b. BTN should fold most of the time and i get it all in against BB.

Re: AQQ8ds preflop spot
Maybe I am a very low variance type player but I do no like that play...
I should pbly learn to do it but I prefer to outplay my opponents post.
Do you think 4betting will put BTN out of the way?

How have to consider position before asking that question. If BB is spewy and 4bs alot i 3bet and BTN should really fold alot if he doesnt want to go all in with his hand, and if our image is not spewy/bad he has to expect us 5betting in this spot.
call/4b makes BTN more inclined to call behind, i would like this hand to be HU rather than 3way. What do you think GGARJ ?

Re: AQQ8ds preflop spot
Bart, we have to have the BB 4b us, and though hes crazy he isnt gonna cold 4b that often, and often a back4b here will get him off some of the trashier hands he r/c with, even with him being OTB.
K, yeah I flat to 4b, worked out perfectly, he jammed w/ AAKJss, and I somehow got there.

You mean you flat to 3b ?
But yeah my assumption was if BB is spewy and 4b alot, otherwise i like your line of call/call closing the action preflop. seeing a cheap flop with a good hand.

Re: AQQ8ds preflop spot
in the post u quoted I meant get the BTN off of some of his trashier r/c hands, not the BB.
no, I flat to 4b. the BB 3b
even spewy he isnt gonna cold 4b me that much when i 3b, but he is gonna still call a bunch and the BTN will overcall 100%. He will sometimes 4b me obviously, but that range is much stronger

Re: AQQ8ds preflop spot
Really like flatting against nit, to 4bet maniac's possible 3bet for value.
